Anyone figure out how to save one to an sd card and print off a canopy at walgreens?

I have a black and white laser printer and don't know anyone with a photo printer. I printed one on regular paper and traced it to photo paper and that was a PITA. I stepped on it after it fell off the counter. I'd like to print out a good looking one and not just white.

Click the PDF. Save to your hard drive. transfer to SD card... You should also be able to
click the JPG, display it and then right-click to save. Transfer that to SD card.

Here's another paint scheme for the MCPx.

Steps to make:

1) Print PDF (or JPG) on glossy photo paper
2) Spray a coat of clear lacquer on the color print. Let dry
3) I apply some clear packing tape to the back side to add rigidity
4) Cut out the side panels and top
5) Punch holes for grommets with 1/8" sharpened brass tube
6) Use a black "sharpie" marker to "paint" the cut edges black
7) Fold the center section on fold lines
8) Tape (blue masking) center section to one side panel to hold in position
9) use a small stick or exacto knife with old blade to glue tabs. .. thick CA
10) let dry (optionally tape with transparent Scotch tape
11) Glue other side to center section.
12) glue tail boom end and internal brace piece in place

Go fly - have fun.

Just wanted to say thanks for this! I was in need of a new canopy and just about purchased stock one until I saw this thread. Ran out and grabbed some photo paper and got to work. I'm very happy with the results!

One thing I did was install a cross brace with 2mm carbon rod on the back section of the canopy. Because I could only use 2 of the 4 canopy mounts, I noticed the canopy tipped backwards easily. I put the cross brace directly on top of the tailboom and made it so the canopy fit nice and tight and does not move at all. I capped each end of the carbon with extra canopy grommets. I also beefed up the underside and nose with some black electrical tape. Lastly, before I started taping it all together I used packing tape to "laminate" both sides of the canopy. Gave it a little extra strength and rigidity.

Again, thanks to everyone who came up with this, no need for me to ever buy a canopy again (however, I will have to buy more ink for the printer now! )

I tried the original paper canopy that started this thread and then a TDR. Thanks! My kids love making these with me! It's a great way to bring them into the hobby fun without letting them trash the little bird. I just print out a couple extra on regular paper for the little ones to color and let them hack and paste them together.

By the way, I found the open source program, GIMP, to be an excellent and easy to use program for image editing, especially if you have any Photoshop experience. Took me a while to figure out layers and masking again, but its basically a full on image editing program for free.

Quick question...has anybody tried laminating these before folding? I'm thinking that would help with a paper canopy's' durability and rigidity.

Thoughts?

I believe I read somewhere in this thread that they laminated the paper before cutting/folding. I just used packing tape and "laminated" both sides. It worked great and definitely added plenty of rigidity.

As for GIMP, it's a great program. I've used it extensively in the past and has always worked well.

See my post. I did not laminate but used transparency sheets. I am still using that same canopy. It is just now starting to look a little rough. I didn't get anyone else on this thread that seemed interested to try it out for feedback. Also, notice that I used GIMP as well.

I retro fitted an airwolf model from the 1980s to fit my mc px and it works but it doesn't fly well. Brushless motor will hopefully remedy the problem

I want to download many of these canopies, but they either dont open up b/c they are an unknown file type, are made to be opened up in Pepukara, OR the mediafire link in deleted.

Can someone help me out here? I have a Mac, and Pepukara is a "no-go" for me.

Still making some MD-500E fuselage paint schemes.
A few minor tweaks on the shape and dimensions of the outline.
"Painting the inside with a black Sharpie marker helps the interior fade.
Visibility in FFF is good with these paint schemes.

I dunno, the matching carbon skid/windshield look amazing! I pick the real one even for the extra $$$.
