Ball Link Piler for 250
Is there any brand of ball link piler out there for 250 ? I have the Align one (tweezer like) and always mrr the plastic ball link end. The cut out of the Align 250 piler was too wide!!
Thanks,

Admittedly this is un-helpful, but...
I think it is shameful that Align has not created a tool that works well to separate the ball links on the 250. That ridiculous tweezer thing sucks a** to say the least. And I am surprised that one of the other many firms that fabricate tools like that have not filled that void. There are probably nine different ball link pliers in existence for machines-larger-than-a-250, but I haven't seen ANY that'll work on the 250. |

Nice! Leave it the Freaks to step up when the need arises!
Does anyone own this exact tool? I've been burned before when buying a tool that is supposedly suitbale for XX application...only to discover tha it really isn't any better than all the rest. Thanks! |

I use the align tool that comes with the combo. I realise there is a certain technique in using it.

I too had problems at the beginning I was willing to spend more money on another pliers, but then i thought about it, and i played with it for about 5 mins, then bam! I figured it out. I realised if you placed the pliers at a certain angle making sure the forks is supporting the black links on both side, it popped off easily. Try that out hopefully you'll figure it out like i did. If not then buy Don's favourite pliers

I have one coming too. We'll see. I'd be a campy hamper if it worked out; I'm frustrated with the force required to disengage these [fairly dainty] ball links!

Absolutely correct, need tremendous force to remove the link from metal ball. This is even worst when doing the link end removal at some awkward position !!

I received the piler today and I measured the width of the fork. It is about 3mm. I measured the metal ball used in 250 last week, it was also 3mm width. Align tweezer like piler was about 4mm in width. So, I am pretty sure that this piler will work nicely. I will give it a try tonight.

The only trick using the pliers is don't squeeze too tight. Only medium pressure is required if the pliers are lined up properly. If you get them not right then too much force is required and you can damage the pliers. They work really slick once you learn how they need to be lined up.
