FYI,
For the Diabolo S application you SHOULD NOT use the regular Pyro. They cannot stand the heat buildup due to the power delivery in the tight fuselage or canopy.

No problem for a motor like the HK4540 signature series which BTW runs very cool, or the outstanding black Comp Series Pyro.

Be aware Futaba R7003SB receiver is problematic.I lost one of my TDRs because of that receiver. I ordered DH 711 last night. What's wrong with them? please let me know if any of you guys had issues with them.

Thanks. Aware of the receiver issue. From what I can surmise it is related to VBar going with reverse logic as to which direction to pull the line while no signal. Only seems to need attention if used with VBar. I've also got a 7008 but I've got four of these and need to put them somewhere... I could get a cheap scope like Mark and check it out myself...

No issue that I've heard of on DH 711's (edit: except Marcos had on his Banshee). Just crossing my fingers that Gerd shipped the S with them

My Diabolo S arrived with DH711's as well

In addition I've received a 20T pinion which I've decided to pair with the 4540-473kv which Mr. Mel says will give around 2200 governed on Kosmik @80% and 2500 @90%. What should be the target headspeed for speed runs? I guess I'm looking for 2 values, one "safe " and one "going for it."

On the servos, I tried the MKS, they look to need an additional 1mm each with no grommets. Therefore going to attempt 38.4mm depth Futaba servos.

Cheers.

I put Torq's on mine. I had to shim the elevator servo to fit, but so far, everything else is good. I slid the canopy over the servos and they don't rub, but i have not done a full installation of the canopy with the rear fuse on, I should get there this weekend or later on next week. My build thread is on RR if you would like to see pics.

Just to add to my torq disclaimer.. The cyclics do hit each other on the inside of the mechanics.. One could live with this or file down the cases on the corners that touch, which is what I'll do since i have mine installed with the entire fuselage on and everything fits

How much pitch is everyone going with? I set mine up with 16, but I'm new to speed, is this necessary... Do I need less.. More?

But it all depends on the swash and head of the Heli, some can handle 16 ( I know fpr a fact the goblin speed can) but some can only handle 14

Craig,

If this is the first time you are running speed, stay at 14 max on vbar for now. That's plenty especially on the Diabolo S. She will get away from you very fast. Once you are comfortable then go to -6/+16.

That's a good idea.. I would imagine she is going to be a little faster than my Goblin.. And that thing is fast. It's running the world speed scorpion 4530-540.. She cooks across the field. We have a huge open sod farm.. It's hundreds of acres of golf course putting green grass.. Awesome place to fly and learn speed runs. I have been practicing with the Goblin and on the Sim.. Thanks again for the advice, I will tune it down.

I can't go back an edit my original post, but my motor has changed slightly. It will now be:

X-Nova XTS 4530-525 4+5YY

Same here Jason.

SAB speed blades will not fit Diabolo S so don't waste your money.
