Default Goblin 570 shown!!

Bert just posted a picture on his facebook profile 17 minutes ago! EDIT: Some people say it's a 500 competition, not sure if it's a competition or a 570? Can't really read the text well on the photo. Looks like 570 to me?

So for those people familiar with the Goblin 500 I can summarize the major changes.

Full sized servos
Able to work on 6s but, for hard core or more efficient performance use 12s
Works with a 4025 class motor
Takes up to 575mm blades, 570mm are standard
New landing gear with heavy duty plastic struts similar to the new ones for the 770
some other changes in the frames and tail servo mounting, more details to come.

With the very flexible gearing options there are huge abilities to use various kV motors and pack configurations

12s with 500 (430mm) heli 6S packs x 2, maybe that's one target customer base.

What an odd blade size though.

You could run it with 550mm blades of course, the 570mm are just a great option for lighter disk loading.
I prefer 500mm blades on my Goblin 500, but there are many that much prefer the 520's

So let me get this straight....

This is a 570 class heli that takes up to 575mm blades.

Not to be confused with a primarily 6S 550 class heli that takes 520-556mm blades

And they are pushing 12S down a "half-size" from the typical 600-620mm size.

That's one way for SAB to sell a lot of "specialty" sized blades for a while!

From what I can tell Rotortech sells 570mm blades and Helidirect doesn't even carry that size right now.

This is all that I could find currently available.

Heheh, SAB are trying to get me to buy a gobbler...

500 = 1 x X5 pack.
570 = 2 x protos packs.
630 = 2 x X5 packs.

Now, I was thinking I'd get a TT e700 or protos max, down the line..

arrrrggjh.. I think I'll just be happy with the X5, my head hurts!

Be happy with the smallest number you can

I've hit my limit for the time being. I'm actually one over where I think I should be.

That said I don't do much battery sharing between any of my helis.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad move by SAB?

...that is, unless they are still planning on releasing something in the 450 size range.

450 will be out summertime. Why the bad move? The more options available to the consumer the better IMHO.
SAB's marketing plan has worked better than just about any manufacturer out there, so I'm sure they'll be OK.

+1 why do they need two helis in the 550 to 570 range I mean sure you can put a nice electronics system in it but that's a bit overkill for a heli in that size. I'm sure its going to be one bad ass bird.

I didn't say its gonna put them out of business or anything, just seems like a funky size. Also, selling it as a 550 is odd, I know it will fly, but an over-sized tail is the recipe for an elevator bobble, especially on a heli of this size.

I'm just thinking out loud, I know goblin fanboys will be all over it like ants on a lollipop... my reasoning is that the 450 size is much more popular than the 550 size, though I suppose the 'why' makes sense from an engineering standpoint (the '570' is probably pretty close to the 500, just as the 630 and 700 are nearly identical).

Anyway, just an opinion, I'm not bashing them or anything... I do own a Goblin.
