There's no need to cut. You have room to spare compared to mine. Anyway, the tolerances are pretty tight. I don't think Gerd got that wrong although I'm curious why the 800 required it.

MGA, I am an engineer by trade and have been for 45 years, not an idiot, the boom was too long in that without the removal, the belt only just looped out of the end, NO WAY was it going to fit, I DO KNOW you slide the boom or ward to adjust the tension, but this was so long to get the belt anywhere NEAR the pulley the tensioner roller was OVER the metal boom.
The removal of what was done was required to make it fit on my 800 boom.
WHY do folks assume because something had to be done that isn't normal you are an idiot

Oh yes, running perfectly with this absurdly cut down boom with ZERO VIBRATIONS, and tensioner arm dead centre.

You have to stay calm with answers.
I haven't written anywhere that no one is an idiot!!

Perhaps that you must have misunderstanding my words. I find it absurd that the specifications of the project provide a tail boom more longer of the needed. I think that if you need to cut the tail boom, perhaps there is an error from somewhere : the length of the tail boom or the belt originally supplied or a mistake during the building (as it has happened to me)... But all that is very strange....

It required it, trust me.
Love this Heli though, boom measured 20 to 30 MM too long, it happens.

I have yet to get a perfect build. There's always something that's off even if it's a missing or wrong size shim. Usually it's the packing and occasionally it's the manufacturing. I hate when it's the threading, to torque or not to torque. I always wonder if it's the builder

Boom length is a curious and most obvious one although an 800 boom and belt has got to be one of the lowest volume parts hence allowing more possibility of missing it in manufacturing.

I even had an email exchange on what was packed with the packer on a small repair order, not minicopter

Gerd told me that most likely the belt was already too stretched during assembly (this is very easy....) and therefore very hard flight of my friend has caused damage to some teeth. From here the vibrations.
I have to change the belt although apparently no bad teeth

I've changed the belt. Now is ALL ok
Nothing vibrations on the belt tensioner and nothing sounds like ring tone.
The belt is perfect, runs very well at the right tension and there are no little bumps on the tail pulley.
As always, Gerd has understood what the problem was
