Default Play in HK3 4025-1100 motor can

Flying my Logo 500se yesterday I stripped the main gear. I assumed it was incorrect gear mesh but when I took the motor out I noticed a slight amount of up and down play in the motor can. Probably less than 1mm but I can definately feel the can move. Is this normal? Do I need to disassemble the motor to check anything?

You can press the motorshaft slightly in to get rid of the play. Be sure that you know how to do this or you will hurt the motor. No biggy.

On the shaft side of that motor a circlip captures the shaft. Scorpion puts a VERY thin and fragile curved shape washer (known as a Bellville washer) it's 0.004" thick and aluminum- which preloads the bearings but allows some expansion for heat. On my HK 5025-440 mine wore thin and fell out when I was changing pinions. IMO, not a big problem. NO SLACK= that's an issue.
