Eliminating Pan Axis Jerkiness/Play
I have a small amount of jerkiness/play in my pan axis which shows up in my video feed.
I have tried a couple of different servo's. My drop in servo is a Spektrum S6070. So far all I have are a couple of mini servos that I have played around with. Will try a couple different standard servos this weekend. The pan axis is supported by a bearing so is is super freewheeling with zero resistance. The tilt is fine because it gets a little resistance from the weight of the camera and mounting platform but the pan is tricky to smooth out completely. Have any of you gimbal gurus run into this, and if so, how did you alleviate it? |

On my quad, the yaw control is on my dual rates (rudder), and for panning, I have the D/R set very low - 35%. Digital servos have noisy steppers, if you can use a smooth analog it might work out better. But then I rotate the whole quad to pan, rather than just the mount - you might not have D/R available on your camera yaw axis.
