Default what servos would you put on your X5

so i am thinking of maybe getting new cyclic servos for mine, and these are the ones i was thinking about. the outrage servos look awesome but not sure if HV servos are really needed on the X5

MKS BLS950 and bls990 rudder

or the outrage torque servos

yes, if i get the torque servos that is where i would get them, but not sure if i want those or the mks servos. still messing with my stock servos to see if i have a problem. if so ill be getting new servos and if i need to buy new servos why not get top notch servos.. that is how i see it

DS610's and 650 are a good combo. Hadn't had any problems what so ever after my 200 flights if you don't mind the align stamp on your bird.

i have had align servos on my old 550 but did not really like them.

i have had a few MKS servos before and i felt that the out perform any other brand i have used as of so far.

i really like the stock servos allot and i would get those over align servos but if i do end up needing to buy new ones i figure i should get some really good ones..

I have zero trouble with my Stock servos BUT, should I ever need to replace, I would go Outrage or JR8917HV. Cost is about the same, but the JRs are a bit faster, but the Outrage are a bit torqier and are known to last.

is there a pun intended?? i dont know if i have any trouble with mine or not, all i know is i tipped over, one was not working and that it started working again, found a few servo plugs wires slightly coming out of the RX or Beast

and i was running my servos at 8.5 and 9V by mistake for a while and they were getting burning hot. so i either damaged the servos or the plug was just coming loose. i really like the stock servos and they have been good even though they have been abused by my mistake..

What's the difference between the JR8917(HV) and the JR8717(HV)?

about 50 bucks a servo difference.

150 vs 200 bucks.. and 10 more oz of torque per inch maybe there is more of a difference but that is all i can tell you between the two

The 8717hv are a bit faster and have a little more torque. I find the 8917 at .06 are fast enough.

It's been said mks makes the outrage servos so either way you get a great servo.

yeah that is why i am considering them, i just dont know if i really want HV servos or not, most people say they are over rated and to expensive for what you get, the only real advantage i see while looking at the specs is the HV servos have allot more torque but the speed is not really that much better than any good regular servo.

i was looking at the JR servos but they are more expensive so i ruled those out.

basically it will either be MKS or Torque servos if i find that i do need to get new servos i think ill just see which set of servos i can get the best deal on. i am sure i would be extremely happy with either set.

I was in the same boat but for my 7HV. I decided on the Torqs as they are cheaper and not much different from the MKS. I have a set of the cyclics on both 7HV's and the 9188 on the tail for both as well as one on my X5. Very happy with the Torq servos and I'm only running them at 6v.

The 9180's compared to 610's are drastic. When I switched over my 700E it was night and day. it felt like the servos had 5 times more resolution than regular old 610's. I could feel and see every tiny movement (every thing I did seemed much more smooth and precise) where as the 610's and all other corless servos that I have tried, felt very notchy/edgy. feels like the regular servos have 50 steps, and the torques have 250. Once you try them you will know what I mean.

Yes, It is that much different.

And yes the torque servos are made for outrage by MKS. The 9188 is the best tail servo on the planet IMO. I have tried a few brushless tails. Stay away from the Savox HV's, A few guys have had brown outs due to there immense power consumption and very very short power ramp up.

+1

Cheap and reliable.
Parts to fix your servo (upper and lower cover, gearset, screws) are readily available.
They serve me well.

Only the Align stamp is a con.

I bought a Torq 9188 for the tail of my Synergy and the look/feel of this servo alone makes me want to get the accompanying cyclics for $380.

Can't go wrong with MKS or Outrage .... I love my MKS servos.

The question really becomes whether to go HV or not ...

Just buy the outrage pack.

Dave is right, they ARE 100% made by MKS. I don't even think the specs or machining are even any different than the MKS servos. I've seen them both side by side and love my Outrage servos. They really hold up too. Yeah it's a bit harder to get a case for the servo but honestly unless you plow into the ground at 200mph and the ground is made of steel, you aren't going to damage the servo.

Take some advice and use the plastic servo arms..On the x5 you won't be able to break them in flight. I have tried.. You will however be thankful when your one dollar servo arm breaks and leaves your servo without a scratch in a crash.

They are different specs, but it's not by much. The Torq's I got from servo db and the MKS weren't up there so I got the info from Nankin.
