Default Canopy Grommets

Hi guys, these Align canopy grommets are such a PITA--they push out of the holes even when the canopy posts are perfectly aligned with the holes. Anyone know of something better besides drilling new holes in the canopy? Thanks for your help.

Once they are in the canopy I usually apply a little glue, ca or gorilla glue all around under the lip of the grommet on both sides.

Yeah they are a PITA

honestly I have 2 and one I just stopped putting them back in the last time they came it, it was a tight fig so it seems to fight fine and I have not had any issues with vibrations with it.

I need the weather to break I really want to fly mine

Yeah, today I flew without the grommets for the first time. They got pushed out during installing the canopy, I just said screw it. Helicopter didn't seem adversely affected, but I would love a better solution. I may resort to using the glue method, but I think deeper grommets would also be beneficial.

I went down to the hobby floor and took a look at my 250's and the one grommets seem to stay in better with the fiberglass canopy opposed to the other plastic canopy.

A 250-sized version of these metal grommets is exactly what is needed:

Yeah those CnC grommets have been around for awhile for the 450, I'm surprised they still haven't made one for the 250.

Well, this irritating problem of the canopy nuts pushing out of the canopy has only gotten worse and worse. Last week I happened upon these:

Silicone Canopy Nut For Align T-rex Trex 250

They arrived today, and they definitely seem to stay mounted in the canopy much better. I look forward to flying with them very soon. They shipped out of Hong Kong, and got to my door in about a week.

I haven't put on my canopy yet because I'm still in the middle of this crazy 3gx compact setup.

From the instruction manual it seemed to me like the grommets aren't supposed to be inside the holes of the canopy. Instead it looks like they are stoppers.

I'm probably wrong. Every other heli I've built has grommets that fit inside the canopy holes.

I'm certain that these canopy grommets are intended to fit inside the holes in the canopy, and then be pushed onto the canopy posts. Otherwise, the canopy will just be fiberglass loosely vibrating on metal during flying.

As an update, however, the silicone canopy nuts I linked above have been working out just great. They are big enough that they don't easily push out of the canopy holes when installing the canopy.
