I'm running about 65% but can do anything too agressive with the heli. Flips, rolls no probs and backwards flight holds well.

My suggestion with the GY401.
Back the gain down till the gyro just starts to not hold. Then run the gain back up about 10 points on the ATV or about 10%. The GY gyros hold very well. They do not need a high gain to hold well. By using more gain than needed all that your doing is putting unnessecary wear and strain on the tail servo. Most of the GY gyros I have helped people with will hold well at 35% to 50% gain depending on there tail system.
I am using GY gyros, the 501 and 601's. I have helped many pilots with the GY 401 and the above sequence is how I set them up for gain control.

What tail blades are you using? If you're using the stock blades, that is most likely your problem, not the gyro. Try some nhp's or freya blades.

I agree with the lower gain settings...my GY240 actually holds BETTER with the lower gain settings....my tail kept blowing out in fast backwards flight, gain was at 65......dropped the gain to 45 and have had no further problems.....i also recommend carbon tail blades....im running the MAH 90mm tail blades on my Raptor30 and they are outstanding......hope this helps
