Default Turnigy TGY 9X

Hey guys,

I am not sure why, but I ordered one of the 8/9 channel Turnigy 2.4Ghz transmitters when they were selling for $39 plus $22 shipping from HK including one 8 channel receiver. I finally got it after being on backorder for a month. It is actually a very nice radio. Feel and quality is somewhere between my DX6i and DX7. I tested all helicopter functions and all works well. It even has a built in servo test function for all channels simultaneously so you can spot a bad servo. The LCD screen is better than either the DX6i or DX7, and the programming is much easier than the DX7. The main reason I was interested is that it has three rotary knobs that can be set to any of the aux channels 5 - 9. So you can have a proportional channel on 7 or 8 on a fbl helicopter.

Has anyone else tried one of these?

I was actually debating on picking one up and modifying it for slightly longer range. I may still, but let me know how the radio works for you over time. I'd greatly appreciate it.

How's the radio for you? Still pretty happy with your purchase?

Default 9X

I installed the backlight kit and lipo battery and got two more receivers, but have not flown with it yet. I really like the programming and display. Also being able to send the proportional knobs to channel 7 and 8 is really nice. Still need to do a range check, but these things are quite popular and if anything, I am expecting better range than my DX6i and DX7, even with the stock transmitter module. Really nice that you can change it out to support FPV. I still REALLY like this radio. The backorder stays at about 500 on these things at Hobby King...so they take a month or two to get.
