Question G500 Swashplate issue

My stock swashplate started making a strange noise yesterday after my last flight - a metal on plastic squeaking. I discovered it was the center ball rubbing against the plastic O ring in the center of the swashplate and it now seems really tight. Is there anyway to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Get a Lynx swash...it's a good investment

Yep, that's what I'm going to do. Not worth risking it.

Yep, I learned the hard way with the stock main gear, it's been my only crash.

Rather than buy new swashes, I rebuilt the swash on both my G500s before flying. They were really bad out of the kits...the center ball was very tight and the whole assembly wasn't seated properly. So I took the time to remove the bearings and re-seat them using sleeve retainer compound so they wouldn't slip, and making sure the balls moved freely.

After about 30 flights and the center balls were pretty badly scratched up and were difficult to move. I'm sure they would have eventually locked-up causing a crash.

I just can't believe that SAB didn't at least hard-anodize the center balls...not that it would matter because they were out-of-round to begin with. Geez. Worst swash in any heli I've owned...which is pretty bad considering that the G500s are among my favorite helis I've ever owned.

The stock swash on my G700 doesn't seem to be as bad.

When comparing the stock swash and Lynx swash there is a huge difference in thickness ie strength, well worth the investment

Try the updated swash with 3 retaining screws. Its much lighter than the Lynx

Also, I prefer the updated plastic landing gear over the Lynx upgrade as well

Weule-

Can you snap a pic of the old swash vs the new swash? Or is the swash that is shown on the Goblin site the new version if so I would like to see the old version because I just bought a new kit and would like to know which one I have?

Taking a pic of the underside of an installed swash is difficult.

The original swash uses just a single retaining screw to secure the radial bearing. The updated swash uses 3 screws.

Weule... Fully understand. I'll unbox tomorrow and take a look to see which one came in my kit. Thank you.

The swash on my goblin 570 started making the weird noise today. I had this same issue on my g500 about a year ago. HD replaced this for me last year and that swash has been going strong ever since. Last year I took the swash off the g500 that was giving me trouble and cleaned and that seemed to take care of it, but I never did run it. I believe this has to do with the cold weather as I have never had this issue when it was warm.

That's interesting you mentioned the cold weather. The day it happened was probably the coldest I have ever flown it in. I'm still concerned how tight it is, seems like a lot of undo stress on the servos.

If we get a new kit and notice that the Swash only has one retaining screw, will SAB swap it out for the newer version?

Yes I think they do, this three screw swash is the replacement for the one screw swash. SAB customer service is pretty good.
I purchased my G500 directly from SAB. I had a issue with the tail pulley so I thought, i had a ticking noise in my tail. I contacted SAB and they gave me some good advice how to tackle the problem and they send me a new pulley just in case. It turned out it wasn't the pulley but the Lynx tail case upgrade. I cancelled the pulley because SAB adviced me to put the stock tail spacers back in, SAB suspected the Lynx tail case to be the problem. With the stock back in the tail all was perfect. I contacted Fast-lad uk where I had purchased the Lynx tail case upgrade and got a new one. The firts one had a smal in perfection.

The issue I have had with the swash has nothing to do with the bearing separating. My 570 has the 3 screws and is still crunchy when moved. My issue has to do with the swash ball grinding inside the swash.
