Default TT MT FBL HEAD

Just found this on another (RR) forum.

Anyone else heard about it?

Just got news, FBL head for E325 is going to be released shortly. Part number is TTR3924.

Cool! I'm just in process of contemplating should I get original TT MT metal blade grips (as one of them has little screw broken in it) or to search for some other solution...

This head would be perfect way forward for me!

Has anybody seen the Hirobo 450? It uses many parts from the mini titan and is available with a fbl head. It even uses a motor identical to the obl 29-37 10h. I wonder if this is some sort of collaboration between the 2 manufacturers.

Yes, it was posted somewhere that Hirobo and Thunder Tiger collaborated on the Embla 450.

Update: Per MRC (USA) they're selling it for $420 with motor,ESC and CF blades included. I expected it to cost MUCH more ...

Definitively. Blade grips are quite similar to TT's... Is it possible that TT's FBL head is actually what they've got back from such cooperation?

That Embla 450E sure looks an awful lot like the Mini-Titan V2. As per Punkin71 many of the parts are identical. Looks like Hirobo made some mods to the frame (servo locations) and the rotor head (I read +/- 16° of pitch possible FBL version), but the rest sure screams Mini-Titan. The tail looks partially V1/SE to me.

Why would Hirobo need Thunder Tiger's help getting a 450 sized electric heli to market anyway ?

Not sure I like the look of it with all the separate bits. What do you guys think?

I just need it. Where we can, finally, buy it?

Anyone know if this head will be V2 or both V1 - V2 compatible?

I see no reason why it wouldn't! Only 'interfaces' are:

diameter of main shaft (I can't see it changing)
length of main shaft (again - don't see it influencing it in a great deal)
length of links (same here)

And - I see no reason why would this new FBL head case swash to be changed and phase control to go under any changes...

So - I expect it to be, more or less, drop in replacement!

In the small print right under "Conversion Kit" it says that it is compatable with kit numbers 4710, 4711, 4712, 4713, 3870-F06, 3879-F06. So it should be fine with V1, V2, and the scale fuse models too.

It looks good to me. The only extra piece that the stock head doesn’t have is the blade grip arm. This new head swash following is a very simple design. I hope the spindle and main shaft are the same as the stock head. I do have quite a few of them sitting around.

I just noticed that they now put the thrust bearing on the outside of the blade grip right next to the hex bolt head, unlike the V1 SE or the plastic version that the thrust bearing is in the inside of the grip towards the rotor head.

Won't make any difference, v1 or v2. Same head on both.

I think this is a bit rich for TT, the only real changes are the grips, and if I could make longer grip arms the same length and bond them securely, TT'd be out money on me.

Also, I don't like the idea of that swash follower under the head. It's held in place by the link rods, and they're under enough stress going up/down, without lateral forces too.

Personally, if it comes on sale, I'll get the new grips and use a modified flybar control arm as a phase control lock (below) instead of that abortion TT would have us pay for.

Anyway, no idea when it's even coming out.

Yes. That was my idea, too. But, I'm desperate so I'm ready to buy whole thing if separate grips are not available. At the moment I'm reluctant to fix my MT's head as on your picture because of stress that cut clean small screw that goes through the ball.

BTW only good things is that I've got my worth of money of those blade grips (where one is now unusable as I can't get part of broken screw out of thread) as I've got at least 600-700 flights through them over 3-4 years! My MT is a few flights shy of 1000!

I notice that the rod links are shown as 35mm. Is that not a bit short. I thought the blade 400 ones we modified were closer to 50mm??

I would guess that the fbl specific head is probably a bit shorter since it would not need the extra length to accomidate for flybar and mixing arms, if the fbl head is shorter it would not require longer links.

I believe you are correct Punkin71.

Thanks,

If they're using 35mm link rods (and the same length main shaft) then this means the swash will be 1.5cm higher up the shaft, meaning you'll have to have longer link rods from servo-to-swash.
