Default Dx6 buddy box

If I want to buddy box my dx6 with the rtf transmitter from my MSR, would I be able to link it's throttle channel wih my pitch and throttle channel for my dx6 (aka use my dx6 throttle and pitch curves)?

I dont really recall which Tx came with the MSR. DX4 ?
No matter. Yes it will work. Use P-Link as the Trainer selection.

Not sure the exact model, but it's a small non programmable 4 channel controller (might be 5 channel for msr remote dual rates, but not sure, and wouldn't use the 5th channel anyway because there aren't switches for it)

Pilot link Master. It uses only the stick inputs from the Student/Slave radio and leaves all mixing and advanced functions to be done by the master.
Programmable Master uses all programming from the Student/Slave and bypasses programming in the Master.

P-Link is the basic standard Trainer function. It allows any basic DSM2/X radio to be used as a Slave. When using P-Link with a computer radio never put any settings in the Slave radio except possibly reversing. Use a blank/default memory position.

Also remember when you attach a Trainer with the corded function you may need to use some trim in the Slave to match the centers on the Master. With wireless they should maych without any trim in the Slave.Check it anyway by toggling the Trainer function while watching the Monitor on the Master. If necessary use trim in the Slave so there is no value change when handing back and forth.

Yep. Monitor screen is your best indication that all is well between the 2 radios.

Default Dx6 buddy box

What's the steps to binding? I go to wireless trainer, select p-link, click bind, it says binding, I enter bind mode on my other transmitter, then nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: I was binding wrong. All fixed now

That generally sounds correct. Exactly which Tx are you using for the Buddy/Slave?
Make sure the Slave Tx is not too close when you turn it on with Bind button depressed.
Try it at 8-10ft away. If its one of the batwing Txs try moving closer. Maybe 2 ft.
Try moving both Txs to a different location. They may be sitting next to an RF reflective surface.
If you have a spare Rx make sure the Buddy Tx does in fact Bind to DSM2 or X Rx.

Again.
1) Navigate the Master to Trainer and select Wireless.
2)Select P-Link
3) Roll back and select Bind on the Trainer screen menu.It should say and display Binding at this time.
4) Powerup Slave with Bind button depressed Once powered up release Bind button and let the process complete. Its not necessary to hold the bind button in the entire time.On some Txs it may actually prevent the process from continuing once it has powered up.

Your description of what your doing sounds correct.Keep trying. If it Binds to another DSM2/X Rx it will bind to the WTL(wireless trainer link).

The WTL basically is a remote Rx connected to the Trainer system internally. It is always a possibility that the Rx is faulty but it would be the first Ive heard of.
Let us know what you find out.

It seems all is working well, problem was I was trying to bind once the transmitter was on, not before it was on. Stupid dx6 getting me used to modern remotes. I'll try a test-flight with my brother hopefully on the weekend. Both of my transmitter (and dx6 internal rx) seem to be functioning properly, and moniter is giving the readings I'd want it to. Thanks for your help in getting it set up, aerocal.
