Default New Raptor Owner

Hello All!

I am the proud new owner of a used raptor 50. It's all wired up and ready to go, but haven't flown it yet. I just got it squared away yesterday.

I had to purchase a receiver and program my TX. I think I did everything right. I'm used to all electronic/gyro programming. Am I correct to just focus on my travel limits to program everything?

Also, I'm looking to maybe get a couple new RX batteries. I purchased a Spectrum 6 channel RX. The heli came with 1650 mah NiMh RX pack, but I don't know how old that is. It works, but I would rather purchase something new. What batteries to most people run with RX packs? Would LiFe be an option? Could I run this without a voltage regulator? I already have a smart charger for all my other lipo's, so this would fit in nicely.

Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the Raptor 50.
I've been running a LiFe in mine with no issues. Be sure that your servos and gyro are rated for the voltage. My pack comes of the charger at over 7 volts, but settles into 6.6 volts within a few minutes.
Cheers!

I'm sure you're going to really enjoy the Raptor 50, it's a great machine.

Not sure what you meant by travel limits for programming. For the tail rotor?

As far as Rx batteries, I use a 2S lipo with a BEC output of 6volts, 5 amp continuous and have never had a problem. At 3500 mAH, it will fly just about all day on a charge.

Post up a pic of your new machine in the picture thread so we can check it out.

Have fun with your new Raptor.

Thanks! I'm excited to fly it.

I'm used to programming gyros and swash mixing on all electric helis.

On this one, it looks like I just use travel limits on my TX to program the cyclic servos. I just basically programmed everything to match the pitch curves in the manual at the specific stick levels.

I ordered a few LiFe 2100 mAH receiver batteries. That will be nice since I can use those on my existing parallel charging board.

I think you've got it right... The Raptors are very straight forward to setup as they are "single servo" swash plate. I agree with following the manual as it provides a guide to get the pitch and throttle settings right. It will fly well with these settings.

Good luck with your new machine.
