Perhaps one of the team pilots that have the gasser could chime in with a couple pointers?

Vp powermaster makes some already mixed gas fuel. And it smeals like paint. Really nice smell. I used it in my radkal20. Flew really nice. Smooth fuel.

I got the motor started today based on a tip from michael88997. I had to lean out motor on startup and after running for some time, I was able to back that off. I was just testing it in my driveway so no blades were on just yet. I did go into governor mode ( Ikon ) for a short time and that seemed to work.

Also, the manual suggests keeping all electronics away from the CDI unit and that is very true. I have the carbon fiber version of the Spektrum satellites with the long antenna. The satellite in the back was mounted up above the tail, but the antenna hung down the side and must of gotten a bit too close the the CDI as it lost a connection. I might have to switch out the satellites to the standard version with the short antenna leads.

Hopefully I will get to fly a bit tomorrow.

Got out to the field today and got two flights in ( mild hover/circle ). As I mentioned earlier, the motor runs pretty rough and I guess all that vibration was too much for the tail as it broke clean behind the tail strut support. I probably shouldn't have tried a flight on Friday the 13th.
Not sure where to go from here as far as tuning goes. Luckily I was less than a foot off the ground when the tail let got and there is no other damage.

Sorry to hear that man, may need some more running on the ground and breaking in before flying... Also that metal support may put too much pressure on the boom and cut it, might want to try going back to plastic support

GAS NERD:

Couple Questions,

1). Are you using the supplied Metal Vibration Plate under your Ikon? If your not this is something that could help. As I am using the Mini Vbar which is much more acceptible to Vibrations and now has 0 issues.

2). How is your alignment (Can you spin the Starter shaft with no catching in the OWB)?

3). What is your current Needle Settings for the High and the low?

4). I can't tell from the pictures if your running Muffler Pressure or Not?

Regards

Yes, I am running the metal plate.

The alignment didn't seem to cause an issues. The shaft seems to be spinning smooth.

3). What is your current Needle Settings for the High and the low?
I started with the settings recommended in the manual and tried for a long time to get it started w/o success. Someone told me that their friend has this engine and suggested running it a bit lean on the main needle for a few tanks on the ground. I went ahead and did that as I couldn't get the engine started. It seemed to be getting easier to start as time went on and I didn't have to run it as lean as the first tank through so I attempted a mild hover.

I am not running pressure as the manual advised against it. That confused me because many of the pictures I saw posted were running with muffler pressure.

I hope to have the tail rebuilt tonight and was planning to run a few more tanks through before attempting a hover again.

Look what arrived today It'll be next week before I get this built (going out of town this weekend) I'll be able to offer some build tips after I get a chance to build it myself.

Nice, get ready for some fumes and mess... Also be prepared to take a long time that first start... Do you plan to run the stock tank stopper?

Wonder why we are not seeing more posts? Thought that several of the team pilots had the gasser, and I truly thought they would be talking it up. Are there systemic problems with the NX4 gasser?
Very silent

I still have yet to get mine in the air for more than a few minutes. I was thinking about bringing it to IRCHA to see if someone could help me with it. I was hoping some info about setup and tuning would be available by now.

Default NX4 Gasser!?

I'm still working in getting mine built, been traveling and busy with work.

Check the X3 forum for the Great GAUI Build Off. It's happening at IRCHA and one of the machines built will be he GAUI nx4 gasser. 5 of them actually.

So is the T-10 Gasser motor a dud so far?

With the amount of marketing Gaui put into it I was hoping to see alot of reports of people using this. I would consider a NX4 with the T-10 in the future if it works well but have not heard a peep besides people having issues with it.

Any word? Whats up gaui?
