Balls to the inside of the servo arm.

I'd have to shim the frames out about 5mm. That's how much clearance I'm missing. Then once one servo is in I would have a lot of trouble accessing the heads of the screws for the 2nd servo. I'll just get different servos if I have to.

Right, I think these servos just aren't going to work at 14-14.5mm. I have them setup at 16mm and have enough clearance when the ball is on the inside. These servos are just so boxy, the top isn't tapered at all like many other servos.

Don't have the clearance for the balls on the inside at 14mm...hence the reson for my initial post.

Anyone heard anything about a firmware update for the Tarot units? I have another one of them coming for my 250 and was hoping they would update to get the tail bounce straightened out.

I'm having the same problem with these servos and I'm using the shortest balls. I think it will be ok at somewhere around 15.5-16mm, but I wish I could get them working at a shorter length.

Default Using the ZYX gyro programmer at the field

Got my 450TT Pro put back together with the all-silver Tarot 450FL flybarless head and ZYX 3-axis gyro last week. Boy is she lookin' sexy ;-)

Here's a pre-maiden checkout-flight, showing just how easy it is to use the Tarot ZYX programming card to make adjustments at the field. Tweaked pitch range, cyclic gain, and agility to get a much better feel and response.

It's a bit on the boring side, but hope you get a laugh out of the opening...

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENnKLfgoZ74[/ame]

By the way, I suggest you do NOT try to mount the gyro on top of the receiver and squeeze them both inside the 450 Pro frame... not enough room and vibes will totally screw things up: tried to put her in a hover and she was pitching and yawing spitting angrely about 30 degrees at a time... very lucky I put her down in one piece! Anyway, mounted both gyro and rx outside the frame, and life is now good ;-)

Total. Inattention.

I was so busy talking up an intro to the video, I didn't notice it started tipping during spool-up.... it might have been the gusting wind, but I think I had rotated the sticks to preflight servo movement, so the gyro thought I wanted the heli to be turned sideways... and it was very happy to comply just as soon as it found enough lift from the now rotating main blades...

Very nice video again! I used your first instructional video to setup my copter-x fbl, your efforts are appreciated.

I don't have the program box yet, but I'll be getting one soon.

Question though:
What are the default values for all of the various settings if you don't have the box?
In the one document I saw, it said various settings defaults are different from 'beginner to extreme' .

Now that Jack Frost has left us (2weeks over -10 deg C), I have tested my 450 again.
I started on the hardcore-settings.
Adjusted the swash-gains to 27 (analog servo's) and in the advanced menu the gyro deadband down from 60 to 20. collective to tail at 6, cyclic to tail on 3.
And I increased my headspeed. Didn't tached it, throotle on 85 - 90 %.

Then to the field.
Did some nice circuits, pitchpumps, piro's etc.

The heli flies oke. No more wags, and the tail was almost rocksolid. Needs a little bit of tweaking to be perfect.

The tarot can stay on my heli.

Hi
I use the unit at my trex 450PRO. My impressions are pretty good. The only problem appears in the tail when we move quickly forward in a straight line using the idle up. The tail moves quickly left and right like a spring. The unit is set to hard 3D mode and the tail servo is ds520. Could you advise on the parameters to be changed.thanks

You have too much tail gain. There are multiple options: drop Yaw Total Gain on the gyro, or lower your Tx gain, or lower the I parameter in the advanced Tail Tuning menu.

Turned my swash acceleration to 90 and my dead band values to 10... The heli was flying amazing! No wags, totally locked in... But... Stupid linkage to my blade grip failed...

Next--- blade boom strike... Death spiral---- and down.. All I broke was the one blade.. Will be bAck in air again soon. Loosing my confidence as haven't flown for so long, that in real life hands are freezing! Video coming soon... Crash didn't show... But rest is there... Soon..

On Yaw I have
Rate L 40
Rate R 40
Gain 100
Advanced:
P 80
I 50
D 30
Acceleration 125; Deceleration 25
RCdeadband 20
Gyro deadband 4
Cyclic to tail 3
collective to tail 6

I still have enough to tune. But I do that step by step so I can see how a setting affects the heli.

First day out with the zyx didn't go so well. I went through one battery getting it setup. I was trying to make adjustments using just the transmitter. I had it hovering semi decent. I put a new battery in and continued. I landed lowered my tail gain a few points and then started spooling up again. As soon as it got light on the skids it rolled really hard to the left...BAM! Trashed the blades, main gear, boom, mainshaft....it's back together. Not really sure what happened. The heli was pretty smooth, so I don't think it was a vibration issue. I took the opportunity to replace the main bearings, and swash too.

Sorry to hear about your crash!

Can you do the following:

1) Post a few pics of your head from various angles

2) Post your complete set up on the tx.

My setup (aside from taking 11 hours, I did a complete R/R on the heli to include a new T/T tail) went without a hitch. I just had to add expo to the 3 axis as it was twitchy as hell!

@ Mike A:
Did you unplugged the battery after adjusting so the unit initializes with the new settings?
I almost had the same issue. Realized it just in time.
