next subject - blade tracking puzzler
Hi again fellas
Input on this one appreciated If the blades are out of track, about 6mm at the tips starboard side and 3mm at the tips port side.....it's the same with all my blades, the pitch links are stock and new as are the feathering shaft and blade grips/bearings....would you be thinking swashplate ?? Kev |

I wonder, are you using a stock swashplate? Maybe it is starting to separate or has worn. See if you can give the swash a bit of a tug, mind you if the inner swash is separating or loose just a bit, it is going to be amplified by the time you get to the blade tips. If it is a stock I wonder if it can really handle that kind of headspeed.

I had something like this. Shortly after the blade grip broke near the ball link. I'm wondering how long it was broken before finally giving way.
So perhaps you have a crack in your blade grip?

Quote:
If the balls on the swash or the grips are bent then the pitch links will essentially act as if they were out of adjustment.

G-M...yep, swash is good and level to the eye
B-R.... blade grips are new (well almost) and don't seem to have any cracks/problems Geku..yep, 'tis still a stock swash, and you may well have a point re BL headspeeds being an issue No problemo Liduno... I've another swashplate to try on there when in get a minute, which will eliminate that possibility and hopefully the problem Thanks as always dudes |

Here's a video I posted a while back on a wobble thread
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br4uI8TMEIQ&feature=g-upl&context=G2086e61AUAAAAAAAAAA[/ame] My bird has a different swashplate and links than back then...but as they did then, the pitch links still move about on the swash balls today... I just tried my little 'mod'....6mm - 7mm of shrink tube slid on to the swashplate link arms to take up the slop (the red stuff on the left side in the clip)...and now the blade tracking is all good So the answer to this one would seem to be down to slop at the pitch link to swashplate connection points |

There was a thread on this site about crappy pitch links, the original pitch links fit pretty tight but when you would buy spares they were very loose, I used teflon tape to take up the slop..

Hi,A cheap and easy way to fix the slop is to put a tiny piece of balloon rubber over it then fit the link,,worked for mine,,another "balloon" tip is cutting the neck off a giant balloon to put over your batteries if they are a loose fit in the frame,,mine were falling out and this fixed it,,cost zilch cos I nicked one of the kids balloons!!

If you haven't already done the o-ring mod on your swashplate then get a pack of the MSR Canopy o-rings and put them on the lower and upper swash balls. These are the ones that now come with on the V2 heli. The part number is EFLH2226. This will take away the slop on the video and may also help with the tracking issue you are having.
+1 on a cnc swashplate too. |

I notice that after a few crashes the blades tend to get mushy. I put a new set on the other day and it made a big difference. Much crisper.

I sanded the end of a blade one time after a crash to clean up the nicks. Apparently I ended up changing the amount of lift produced by that blade for a given pitch. It did not track well when installed with the undamaged blade. A new set of blades cleared things up.
