Default cb100 with 2605A rx

ok seeing as i must be missing something i can't get my cb100's tail to work to save my soul. i swap out the rx's plug everything in. set the mix pot to max ( the flat to 3o clock). set the cb100 to 2801. have the throttle trim set all the way down. i arm it, and give it some throttle. main spins fine, but no tail. i give it a try in 2601 mode. same story Rick at club heli sent a new rx, and a WK-WST-10A-L main motor esc. same settings. same results in 2801, and 2601. what the heck am i doing wrong? i mean this isn't rocket science. look at the pic. everything is plugged in fine, but no tail.

HELP!!!

i feel for ya bro. this is one fantastic heli. save your cash on a msr. your cb100 is way better. i had one for almost a month. sold it 2 weeks ago. never looked back!

i'm looking at mine as i type, and all i can think is maybe a wire got cut by the spur gear. i gotta reroute mine to above the esc.

I had the same problem with my 4#3B tail. After days of pulling my hair out it turns out that my throttle trim somehow returned to center instead of being all the way down. My main motor worked fine but the tail wouldn't initializing. Once I turned the throttle trim down, started everything up again the tail worked perfectly. It was quite embarrassing but sometimes it's the simplest of thing that can elude us. :o

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I've had this issue (don't really now if it is an issue at all - maybe just something that was not translated or added in the manual). Try this

1. Turn on Power to TX
2. Switch to 2801 Mode in menu (if you have not already done so).
3. Turn power off.

Next...
1. Turn on Power to TX
2. Power on CB100
3. Wait for binding process to complete
4. Place HOLD/Rudder D/R Mix switch in the down position (switch it towards you).
5. Now power up gradually, and move the throttle stick side to side. The heli must spin in a circle for the
gyro to initiate. Once it initiates, put the switch back to HOLD (switch is away from you).
At this point the GYRO should be initiated.

MY 4g3 started losing it's tail after some time, and I'm starting to think it's either a faulty rx, or one that was damaged in a crash because I never had to do the above till recently, and now it's like every time.
Anyhow the above steps worked for me.

Finally...
To get the tail and gyro to work near perfect, you must play around with the ATS Mix in the SWAATS menu. There are two variables UP & DN. These mean accelerating UP and decelerating Down respectively. As it goes..if the heli spins to the left when you go up then you must change the UP variable so that the percentage of the mix is to the R (right)...and so forth. Note keep your throttle trim at neutral while your changing these values.

There will be some drift, but you should be close to a tail that does not move. Also be sure to increase your GYRO sense, so it does not move or moves very little when in hover (meaning you are not accelerating upwards or decelerating downwards). If it starts to wag back and forth decrease the value till it stops.

Once you get the above, then you can use the trim for now on. Note that changes in throttle curves, pitch curves (for CP type Helis), Pitch mix, crashes, bent flybars.....etc...will all have an affect on the above. So at some time you will have to tweak these numbers again. A good sign is when your adjusting your trim and it's getting closer and closer to the end point.

Just get use to it...Lol....

PS: The above is with a 2801 Pro TX and 2605a, I don't know if you can do this also with it in combination with a 2401 rx.
i think you misunderstand my problem. i'm trying to get my cb100 to fly using a 2605A receiver, and a 2801 pro transmitter. in stock form she flies fantastic. when i swap out the rx's i get no tail period. i have the mix pot set to max. when it's armed up i can move the rudder anywhere, and it does not spin. it's not armed. i got a different esc that Rick at club heli thought should fix the problem, but same results. the main motor spins, but no movement out of the tail motor.

i'll give the above a try after supper tonight. i like your tutorial on setting up the 4g6 gyro. almost makes me want to keep mine. NOT!

Is your heli working yet??? Did you checkout your throttle curve? If not, make sure L is at '0', and lower "1" too so you get a nice flat line in the beginning.

Other than this, do you know of someone who has a 2801 Pro nearby that you can try out? I'm thinking it's down to the TX and the tail ESC.

Can you post a pick of the receiver with all the wires plugged in

Below is a pic of the connections in my CB100. Take note of the single white wire in the middle. This is the tail rotor signal wire. Is it plug in on yours as shown? Inspect that wire closely, especially if you used it too pull the connector out of the 2406c. It may seem intact, but may actually be pulled away from making contact.
it's back in stock configuration. i've been so tired laity to play with it, but if i got more energy i'll mess with it again tomorrow.

I really like this upgrade, a lot!

When selecting your gyro, what choices/reasons did you use?

well i finally got it to work. after setting the throttle curve to 0.0 witch gave me a down, or is it a out setting of -16 it flies great now. actually not great. i gotta add some expo or something. she is kinda touchy on the cyclic now. i'd like to be able to just turn down the swash settings, but seeing as it needs to be a 1 servo swash i can't. wait a min. it has 2 servos. is there a 90 degree option in swash? i'll have to look again, and see.

i just gotta sort out a few things, and she will be flying as she did before.

new problem.

i was going to start from scratch with a new model slot. i got to the throttle curve, but couldn't get it to show -16 at 0.0 at low stick. what am i doing wrong?

That's great, glad to hear you finally got it working. Keep up posted once you get the settings tweaked I'd like to give this a try as well.

shaggybirdman, glad you got it going!
The "out -16" was the last thing I could tell you to check for. It means the throttle trim is at zero. If it's any higher than -16 the tail will not arm.
You can turn down the servo travels a lot to really tame it down, or use expo, or do both as I did. This way you can have the controls mild for indoors and full quick response for outdoor flying.
