Default stretch 450 pro

Has anyone stretched their 450 pro and if so, does it fly any better?

Hell yes it does, mine flies like a bigger bird for sure and is an improvement in nearly all areas of performance. I'm swinging 350mm Radix's and it is the bomb. Other mods on it is the 6s power system and Tarot DFC head. Very happy with the results.

You need:
Carbon or metal boom
Torque tube or belt
Get the longer tail grips
Push Rod (I just made one using carbon rod or if you use a stock 450 Pro rod you can tail mount the servo)

Thats it and you can get all of it here

Do you need the longer tail grip or is that optional ?

It is optional I guess, but your gonna need all the tail authority you can get. I have one on a stock 450 pro and it helped improve tail performance on it too.
You could also get blades that are a bit longer, but if you are not having tail blowout when you put on the longer main blades or if you have your own solution. then you don't need the blade grips.

is it possible to find the parts to do this mod here in the states? instead of having to order it from Taiwan?

its more stable because your rotor disc is larger

yes, it will cost you a little more to repair as you need longer blades, boom and torque tube which are not produced widely like standard 450 parts are so you will have to order spares, wait to get them and pay more for the parts over 450 parts
I say just get a 500 and be done

Sorry..have to disagree there...at least with what i have observed stretching my 450 to 500 size, and not just a few mm's but swinging 420mm blades on 6s..it'll eat a 500 alive..and fly for well over twice as long...

I second this! I also fly two 6s (one soon to be 12s) custom 450s that are also stretched out to run 420mm blades. With a 2250 6s battery and flying hard at 3200hs I am pulling down 18min flight times and my heli will rip circles around any 500 out there, even a 12s version. Power vs weight.

I also run custom hand wound 2221-2010 Scorps that produce 20% more torque than the factory version. I can powder delrin gears at will.

The stretched fbl helis are twice as nimble as the porker 500s, in any flight comparison. Plus they exibit the much the same stability benefits. With just half the weight.

The stretch is easy to do and well worth it.

I have also flown the Radix 350s and to me they were numb feeling. I actually prefer the cheapie HK 360mm blades far more if stretching to this size. Snappy fast transitions in 3d. Although due to how light they are autos are now not on the to do list with these.

And with the 420s. Wow.

I do admit that I scrapped my torque tubes and went belt though. I lost 3/4 of my vibes right off the bat and all the gear train issues. But to each their own.

I dunno if you can get those exact parts from the states but if you hunt around you might find em. I don't live in the stated so I have never really paid attention to whether or not they were available in America. These other 450 stretch gurus might know of some good suppliers

In the states? None that I know of. Pretty much every single part on a trex comes out of china. So do the stretch mod parts. Unless you build them yourself. Such as soarcing your own metal boom material at K&S. And your own belts. Half a dozen companies sell belt material in every size. You will have to make your own TT. Again, fairly easy. But shipping from all the different vendors is going to cost you. But in the end doing it yourself insures the quality and fit are perfect.

Or at least ensures that there is no one else to blame for quality and fitment issues

quick qustion, are the 480 parts sutible for 350 blades, or is that over kill? Saw that tarrot had 345 blades listed in te 480 category... little confused as to how they have their stretch parts listed.

Ive run up to 360mm with the tarot parts, I think you will find that the stretch mods some of these other guys are doing, where they are using 425mm blades is using different parts that they probably made themselves. You won't get 425's to fit with the Tarot stuff.

was that with the 480 or 360 mod kits? I'm running 350s on my rave and I'm thinking about a frame swap.
