Default You can never go over the top with a TDR :)

So far for this build, I've dyed gears, removed annotization from a heat sink and I just spent about 2 hours shaping my servo arms...

I could have saved a lot of money in 65C TP batteries if I never intended to fly it!

True!! you could have saved a ton of money on more than the TP's. The man hours put in not even counted. I waited 7 months only, during which I read the manual about 10-12 times, built it in 3 days, without the slightest hitch. The maiden raised my level of nerves to new heights and my thumbs can still wobble during first pack of the day and I haven't put down half the work on my build that you have!

I think I'm just about happy with the wiring.

Whew, one little mishap and that heatsink is going to tear the aluminum plate out of the ESC. It's just glued to the MOSFets.

Easy fix for that, get some wire or similar and strap it down to the ESC mount. Heck string would probably do it.

Just ordered all the expensive stuff for mine, servos (Futaba), Pyro Motor, Jive 120HV ESC and the cooler:

http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/jcoo...0-p-17851.html

Hopeing it will provide protection for the ESC too (Must have a lot of gold in it lol)
Batteries from HK, going for 8 x 4500 6s for 4 flight packs 35-70C, adequate enough as the motor is 3kw/5kw peak, math say they are well in spec. Wont be doing crazy 3D stuff for a while yet.

Cost as much as the kit almost.

Anyone use the JLOG at all?

I don't even have the ESC taped down yet. I still need to solder the EC5's.

Rest assured there will be some additional means of securing the heat sink before it takes flight.

I think I have a much prettier solution.
There are two slots at the base of the heat sink on both sides. I believe I could fit a properly sized bolt through each side and I could secure that bolt without running something ugly across the top of the heat sink.

This would also double as a way to hold the heat sink down

Thanks, I found a better way to mark my servo plugs too.

I used to use black stripes on the ribbon with 1,2,3 stripes. Now I'm using silver permenant marker on the Plug itself, so I have L, R, C, M for master on the BEC cables.

Off to the hardware store shortly to come up with a heat sink fastening system. I'll probably just use velcro tape to hold the ESC down.

I'm waiting until the batteries get here so I can figure out how far I should trim the ESC cables.

beautiful man, nice attention to detail. If there were a concours show for heli's (maybe there should be?) you are well on your way to winning it. Post of up detailed pics when you are finished.
I take it you shortened wires?

I have a proof of concept for securing the ESC without adhesive securely and allowing quick release.

What It found were that 6-32 x 2" bolts fit rather well. The threads actually catch in the aluminum heat sink so you have to screw it in, but they aren't so tight that they warp the threads. Put a lock nut on the end of it. Then grab a couple Protos 500 battery bands and you have a quick release system for your ESC

But... I think I need to find a better looking bolt maybe in black.

What do you think?

I really like how you mounted it. These protos o-rings are very strong, but still they would break in case of impact.

Only con I see is the capacitors are over the edge of the tray. Not much you can do about it and on the TDR the whole front frame makes hitting the capacitors a lesser concern, unless the whole tray is reaped and it hit's something else.
