Hi, the one thing about the conversion, and even for the stock 600n, that concerned me was the central main rotor housing. Held on by a single, puny bolt and wobbling after some use, I just couldn't get to trust that the head will stay on proper.

Also given the additional power and more pitch, I regard it as an increased failure point. With the tendency of stretching past 600 and putting all of this through a "weak" 600 head, I couldn't rest easy. I do not know if there a frequent and published failures, but it gets into your head .............

Installed a KDE XT main rotor housing and all my fears about this specific issue has been admonished !

Expensive, yes ! What price peace of mind ............ ?

Hello.

Is it anybody out there still flying the TRex 600 with 91 Engine? I am a little bit curious about the conversion. Is it necessary to modify the frame, and if, what do i have to do? I saw that Infinity Hobby has a complete frame to fit a OS 91 but it cost 230 dollar and maybe it is not worth it.

http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/p...oducts_id=2906

I wonder if it is enough to by the pinion, engine mount and fan mount if i want to use the original frame?

Thanks

I've almost finished my build, made my own brackets for the engine but the only real problem is that I need a 24 or 25 tooth pinion to make it all work as I would like but can't find a supplier.
Good luck with it.

Use the 230 dollar to find a decent engine and pipe and do the rest of the ways to make the engine fitted as i have discribed.
The frames from infinity makes the 600 look weird and tall. Look up some pictures of it. Get the 23t pinion from infinity and 700n clutch liner.

The other parts you mentioned only work with the 91 conversion frame.

Thanks for your answers guys.

I already had a OS 91 and that's all The plan is to find a used airframe and electronics to hold down the cost.
Is it not possible to use the engine fan mount from Infinity Hobby with the original 600 frame?

I can not find the 24T pinion at Infinity and the 23T is out of stock. I have sent an email about that and still waiting for an answer from them.

I asked them about a 24t a few months ago and they said they couldn't say when or if they'd be getting them in again.

Different main gear perhaps but I haven't found one suitable.. :-(

No.. that fan mount is higher then the stock one because a 91 crank is longer. You have to cut a piece of the crank and machine out the stock fan mount. Have this done by a professional.

Ok, thanks.
So I "just" have to drill a bigger hole in the original fan hub because of the bigger crank.
I understand that's it's necessary to do it right to avoid unbalance.

Sirolf:
I saw in a earlier post in this tread that you have honed the cylinder. How did you do that? Is it possible to buy a tiny tool for that?

Brake caliper hone tool. I have it at work.
Cheap on ebay. Just go easy on the job itself. Do just enough to get a nice new cross hatch pattern.

Did you use a drilling machine or is it a handy job?

Average cordless drill will do fine.
Use a low rpm and keep it wet. You can use fuel for this.
