Default Shopping list for the move to Jeti

Looking to get a Jeti DS-16 and convert two helicopters, a Whiplash Gasser and Goblin 500 electric.

Looking to get the following items
1 DS 16 radio
1 Deluxe neck strap
1 PPM Jack Cable Red, (for use with Phoenix FS when I'm in Mexico)

Gasser
1 R3/RSW Feeds a Helicommand SX FBL unit
1 MT300 EX Temp Sensor

Goblin 500
1 R3/RSW Feeds a Helicommand SX FBL unit
1 150A MUI ex

What lead do I need to run between the R/3 receiver and the HC SX FBL

Also how does the RC Switch in the R3 work in real life. I would think that even off there is still a small amount of current draw.

Thanks

The R3/RSW can't be used as both a remote switch and Rx at the same time so the switch functionality won't be available to you.

I would add the USB dongle for firmware updates to the Rx and sensors and also the tool for removing the switches on the Tx as you may want to change some of the default switch locations.

You need a female to female plug to connect the FBL and the R3 (female as in it has the sockets not the pins in the plug). The RSat2 came with a cable or in some versions it was hard wired in, but I am not sure if the R3 comes with one in the box.

Correct. Not hard wired and won't be in the box. Female to female will be needed.

You won't be able to buy the ppm cable in North America. They are not FCC certified here (though they are easy to make on your own).

Hi,

I'm considering moving from my old 9303 to a Jeti so this thread interests but also confuses me. I've moved or am in the process of moving my fleet over to FBL and I'm using Helicommands, either the SX or the X, and up til now I've just used the ports on the helicommand to power sats. So I know that I can't bind the Jeti to the sats (can I?) but in this thread you guys are talking about using the R3 receiver and one female to female cable between the helicommand and the R3. How does that work? Collective, pitch, tail, throttle etc., all don't need hard wires?

I'm converting a Spectra G, two Minicopters Jokers, a Trex 600 and a trex 450. Is the Jeti going to be worth the trouble? (A subjective question in the Jeti forum but what the hell).

R/Wayne

That is correct. You can use SUM/PPM input with the Demon FBL system. This uses one single line from the RX to the FBL unit. The port on the Demon is the one right next to the USB data port.

You will NOT be using sats with the Jeti equipment when paired with the BD.

And yes - very subjective, but VERY happy with my decision when I switched from Futaba to Jeti. Never had issues with my Futaba gear. But this stuff is in another league and constantly being enhanced.

Great reply. Thanks. I had completly glossed over the whole sum/PPM thing as I'm a JR radio guy I never payed it any attention.

So would the R3 be the optimum Rx for the HC3SX/electric heli configuration? The R3 and the R5 are the same cost and weight. Does either give you an advantage (aside from two more channels)?

Either will be fine. The R3 has a hard case and the R5 has shrink wrap and shorter antennas. Although they are shorter, the range is the same. I prefer the R5 for this reason on Heli's smaller than 700 class.
