Carbon fiber is very easy to work with. It cuts, grinds and sands very easy. That is like saying you need a cnc machine to cut balsa! There is no problem building the gimbal. The issue it gettting the electronic control of the gimbal set up right which I'm sure PS1 has welll sorted. This will take more time but I like a challange!

It's really important to make sure you have a good breathig filter when working with carbon fiber, it's not lung friendly. With regard to the CNC, what I was referring to is if you're doing something similar to the 3X Pro type gimbal where you need accurate identical curves that ride on bearings. I purchased some 3mm CF from the guy on ebay mentioned earlier, however the weave is very large and it does have a fiberglass core which makes it slightly heavier. Still very useable though. Good luck with your project.

Yea I know about the carbon dust. The main bearings will be held in with RC heli main bearing block (10mm shaft). I figure if its good enough to hold a head on a heli at 2000 rpms is should be good for a 10 rpm camera mount with no slop. The bearing block will add as a frame spacer and support. It will be easy to square it of on a flat surface. I may take pics on the build. I just bought a new camera 5 mins ago on the net so I can test that out. All I have to do now is pay the visa!

Edit..the carbon fiber sheets actualy cost 52.42 eu I forgot I got a bulk order discount so that was nice.
