Default Tail Belt or Drive shaft

I just love how my 450 Piro's, Its awesome. My 600E doesn't have nearly the same Tail Authority. It seems sloppy and unbalanced.
It currently has a belt drive and 6s FP 5000 pack, i'm also using the stock CF tail Blades.
I'm thinking that changing to the drive shaft should improve the control, Greatly i hope.
Does anyone have an opinion on this?

what gyro are you running?

i have ran both the tt and the belt and the only thing i noticed is the tt took longer to spool down. i did switch to the k&B tail rotor blades and they helped a lot.

Take a look there and also do a search. A lot of other threads have been discussing the tail.
Anyway, to my opinion the key factor for tail authority is not the belt versus the TT, but rahter having quality tail blades (the stock CF have been known for either working or not).
Also a lot of people have been having issues with the non thrusted blade holders.
If you think your piro rate is slow ?, adjust your rudder endpoint

My endpoints are dialed in for maximum throw. Does anyone have the link for the thrusted blade holders at ready heli, I'll try that but im not sure if im looking at the right thing.
And what tail blades are you guys recommending?

your endpoints do not adjust the max through they adjust how fast the piro's are. use the pot on the gyro to adjust the throw and then crank up the endpoints to make the heli piro faster

Ok im sorry the pot on the gyro is set correctly for best servo travel. The endpoints your talking about is in my DX7 Transmitter and i believe that is at 100%

OK try upping your endpoints to 105% then 110% and see how that affects your tail - should increase your turn rate. Changing to TT highly unlikely to affect your tail authority - I'd experiment with different sets of tail blades

So if the TT(Torque Tube) Really doesn't improve tail authority, What does it improve? Maybe thats a stupid Question.

fwiw..

It only quiets the heli a bit...Belt has to be run loose for best performance, and sometimes can be heard hitting the boom..Auto performance and tail perf .are similar...My Eagletree tells me ther's a slight reduction in current at hover with the tube, but I've not tested enough helis to see if this holds true..I run 'em cuz they're cool...

Thanks for the info....I'm surprised the TT isn't more impressive for performance.

Yeah.

- Not as durable as the belt if you touch the tail blades
- Weighs 3 oz more than the belt
- Costs $110

I was considering it because I could use the tail weight with the 10s battery. But even then I couldn't justify it because I'm just starting autos and figure I'll nick the tail a few times.

Also, I figured I'd have to be adjusting the belt a lot on my 600N, but I went all last summer without an adjustment (110 flights).

Keep 'em flying.

I never liked the stock blades, couldn't get them to be consistent, or something, just not happy with them. Tried Radix 92mm as was recommended with the thrusted option. Still wouldn't hold well. Got a set of Radix 95's and didn't look back. Worked perfectly. Ordered them with my second heli as well and worked just as good there. Can't speak for other brands and I know there must be other good ones.

Farren

Here is a link to the Thrusted tail rotor.

http://www.rcflightstore.com/product...roducts_id=663

And the Radix 95mm blades.

http://www.rcflightstore.com/product...roducts_id=723

You could find them wherever you like but if you are in Vancouver Ken is a great guy to deal with and very rarely is he out of stock of T-rex 600 parts and he is just around the corner from you. Radix blades can be another story but if Ken doesn't have them it is likely everyone else is prettymuch out of them as well.
