Default Novus CP upgrades

im looking to add some upgrades to my Novus CP; from what i can find on the Heli-maxes' website, they dont offer very much as far as upgrades go. But I have read that the Novus CP is a rebrand of Walkera's 4g3; which has many more upgrades. The upgrades that I am trying to do are as follows. a CNC head, and brushless tail and main motors. but the problem i am having is that on the website that i am using for the parts (www.wowhobbies.com) has too many styles of main BL motors too choose from i dont know what one to take.

Hi, for the tail, the 2.9g motor is best. For the main, the stock Walkera brushless motor works extremely well with a bigger pinion. It will fly ok with the stock 12t - I use an 18t now and there is a big big difference

I would avoid the Turbo-ace motors, most are fine I'm sure but loads of folk have problems with them too.

I've never tried the metal head, always been happy with the plastic. Many folk who have tried the metal head end up switching to plastic too as apparently it flies better with the plastic head - saving weight is important too of course, if you want the best performance

Hey brotha,

I just got my tail motor brushless to match my main. It is really quiet now. I bought the tail conversion kit from Walkera and it fits perfect. the brushless main kit is whatever they sold me in the LHS. Anyway, although the heli i stilla bitch to control it can do what you want it too now. Oh, also have the aluminum rotor head.

Just got my cp out for the first time in about 3 mnths. And I could not fly without constant fighting of the tail rotor. Before I shelved it 3mnths ago I put brushless main and alluminum head. Do yall think brushless tail will get this thing in more control. When I first got it I messed with every setting and ended up sending back to helimax they reset it and sent it back with little improvement. I'm an almost average flier so I can handle it ok would love to get it flyn 3d like you see in all the videos. That little Justin dude is awsome with it. Any ideas wouldbe great. Thanks

Hi, upgrading the tail motor on this heli is more important than upgrading the main, as the tail motor is the most limiting part of the heli with regard to set up. Also if you upgrade only the main motor, the added weight will give the over-stressed tail motor even more work to do.

The best tail motor is the 2.9g which can be used with the Walkera tail esc. For the best tail motor holders take a look here:

I'm either going to upgrade the tail or might sell it. I've prob. Got 300$ in the heli and dnt know what I could get out of it. Great shape just have to fight the tail when you are doing anything but hovering.would like to get an blade sr to add to my fleet. You got any suggestions on a sell price. Alluminum head brushless motor( main ) and carbon fiber blades that I dnt run. It's got a new set of walkeras on it now. Thanks

Keep the blades, (and metal head if you want) and sell the rest and buy a 4g6. Or Novus CP125 if that is easier for you.
Same thing, different radios and a plastic head on the novus.

I can't even bring myself to sell the novus cp to someone to bring them headaches.
Just kept the parts that I can use on the 4g6 and scrapped it.

Unfortunately I doubt you'll get much back on it at all, particularly now that it's the old model.

I see that all of the time: Upgrade one part and another part needs to be upgraded as well to RUN it. I DON'T like aluminum parts.I like carbon fiber in some applications.FRP is a good compromise, too.Nylon is squishy and VERY flexible. As usual, you have great advise, here. Dave.

Well I'm tryn to find time to finish my t600 ESP build. But since I was waiting on new esc that fried I been playn with my little ones. I would like to make it as best as it can be. Is there a good combo tail kit that comes with 2. 9 motor brushles speed controler for it and tail housing that would hook rite up? Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words Dave

I agree with you about metal parts, Walkera/Novus micro helis always fly better with a plastic head than a metal head. My 4#3A flies better than my 4#3B, and I've heard of many folk buy a metal head for their 4G3 only to revert back to the plastic head. Same with the 4G6, a plastic head is considered an 'upgrade' from the metal head

I'm not sure if there are any combos, you might have to buy the parts separately. The one U.S. Walkera supplier who seems to have nothing but utterly delighted customers is clubheli.com. I know they sell the fabled jjetski tail motor holders which is what I have on my 4G3, so I'd take a look there.

Had that one before I ditched the CP, motor popped apartf on 1st crash and it wasn't much more than a hard landing.

That was my experience..... love my 4g6 (or novus CP125) and don't miss the Novus CP and it's tail wires/motors at all.
