GPS Rescue Now
Has anyone tried the Rescue Now with v 3.4 recently. I tried it the first time with firmware 3.4. It works great but there's about 1.5 seconds lag when I flipped the switch until the heli right itself from inverted. The SL is set to 200% on cyclic 1. Flying in cyclic 2.
Just want to throw this out and see what others get. Thanks

What are your control rates? The 200% is 200% of whatever your control rates are. Slower control rates = slower rescue, but 1.5 sec seems really slow. This is how the self level works at least. I'm not sure if the rescue now follows the same rules, and that would be a good question for Georgi or Art. I would assume they would design the rescue now to rescue as fast as it could regardless of SL settings, but who knows.

I noticed the same thing... it's not a slower roll rate.. it flat out has a 1 to 1.5 second delay where it does nothing. It didn't seem to have the problem when upright, only when inverted.

Re: GPS Rescue Now
Correct, not roll rate. It right itself in an instant from inverted hover. But it takes that long to react.
1.5 second can be eternity when one is in trouble. Depends on the descending rate and altitude, this might not be enough. Anyway, I am still trying to figure out which mode will work for me. Also to confirm whether others experience what I experienced. Happy flying and may SL god be with you. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2

It's been working fine for me, no lag from upright or inverted. However, I have the GPS functions and the banks on the same switch. So when I flip to Rescue Now I'm also going to bank 2 with SL at always on, 200%. Not sure if this makes a difference.

=] gps takes precedence over all other modes, when you flick the gps switch it doesn't matter if the SL was enabled or not or is on the same switch, it's running pure gps mode and depends upon 5 systems to do it's work. nothing should be delayed.

I think you guys are just trying this from a normal hover. try it in a fff situation with the nose banked down. then flick it. Personally I have this set to a momentary switch and it is awesome. Probably the best bailout option.

Hi John.... What transmitter are you using for this momentary switch activation? I haven't sprung for a GPS but I did go to SK720 for two of my heli's initially for the SL feature. I've found that the flight performance and setup are sooooo nice compared to my remaining 3GX bird that I hope to someday pick up another.
I'd picked up a good old DX7 and I'm using the 3 position flight mode switch to activate the SL when I pull it up into FM 2. The activation is fine (as long as I don't panic and pull up TH on the right instead) but cautiously flipping it back down to FM 1 and not overshooting to Normal is awkward. I'd like to have FM 2 be momentary with a return to FM 1 when I release but haven't yet looked into finding a suitable switch. I just picked up a used DX8 but except for the push button that could be awkward and may not be able to be programmed for the SL I'll be facing the same 3 position switch issue as the DX7. Just looking for additional info on how other folks have managed to activate the SL/Bailout. Thanks,

Why not use TH for your bailout switch and move TH to a different switch? I don't have a skookum but that is what I did with a different FBL controller. Since muscle memory always wants to hit TH right before a crash I didn't want to reteach my brain to be flipping other switches. That makes going to different helis difficult. So TH is my bailout the rudder switch chooses the percentage of SL I want. I just mix the TH switch into the rudder switch.
TH I moved to the gov switch I dont mind having to think about activating that one. So far the only drawback has been mistakenly hitting rescue after landing to shut the motor off |

On my DX6i I drilled a small hole and installed a momentary action push button switch which I wired in paralled with my SL switch. My finger rests on the switch the whole flight. I positioned it just to the side of the throttle hold switch.
A really easy mod and works perfect. Theres a piccy here of a modded DX6i: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...ht=dx6i+nickyd
