Ar7200bx using computer and USB for setup
So I am seeing a few things saying that with a USB connector, I can upgrade my beastx to a version that will allow the software on the PC to set up the fbl settings.
1. Is this true? 2. Does anyone know any gotchas to doing this? 3. Can someone post a pic or video of the settings for an AR7200bx? Thanks! I have 2 soon to be 3 and don't want to mess with them if I don't have to. They fly great. |

Yes, true. Debatable if it's worth it or not, might save you a few seconds but then waiting for software downloads and installs will suck up even more time. Good for saving setups but it will never save G, K and L nor tail end points, only basic selections and parameters. I've had the software and dongle for ages but have researched it and said.....meh. It's completely unnecessary, your FBL unit will operate and fly no different, but tinkering is fun.

My issue is that I am a computer guy and I didn't set up the helis with the beast... If I tinker I want to use a computer to do it. Not the clicky-blinky thing... If I need to replace a servo or something, and it gotta go clicky-blinky, I'm changing the FBL too.

It believe it saves everything Steve. Of course if you amend links, then it isn't going to be correct anymore, but if you were just doing a unit swap it works fine.
I did this purely as a test. Made sure I had a link and could save a config. Saved it. Reset my unit to all defaults. Full factory reset. Checked it all out. Everything was pretty much wrong. Re-loaded the config. Bench checked it thoroughly. Everything seemed fine. Flew it, everything was identical. I couldn't even tell I'd been through the process. If it didn't save those other things, I must have been damned lucky that everything was set, such that it was at the default values, without adjustment.

What you can't do is set up those things mentioned in the software, but it does save them for restoring.

Interesting, sorry for the misinformation as I thought that wouldn't be possible. Personally, I wouldn't trust it on those setup menu sections and run through them anyway. I guess one day when I have time to kill I should 'tinker' with the software, or not.

Thanks for all the help. I use a lot of different FBL units and can navigate the software well on any of them. For me, the ar7200 represents tinkering to figure out the clicky-blinky thing. I think I'd rather sell my ar7200s.
So we're clear: The actual microbeast can be fully set up using the software, right? |

No, there is some step like G, J or K, L, N you have to setup via LED lights.
However, the great thing and the reason I love BeastX is I can setup and tuning it without any PC, smart phone or LCD panel. Why do you want to to the opposite? Just read the manual and you can setup it very quick. |

And setup is extremely fast!!!!!!!!!! I'd gladly race someone with a PC setup FBL unit.
