I think that motor is similar in specs to the 4035-500 as that peaks at about 4.5 kw.

I regularly fly with a 4035-500 at up to 2700rpm and my 70HV has never got over warm. I do fly decently hard. I've done whole flights of tic tocs and horrible stick banging stuff or just loads of max collective flying and still the same. I'm coming on 2 years of using the 70HV and I sometimes fly in 38 degree weather with half a dozen back to back flights with no break. Fly, land, change packs and immediately fly again. It's testament to the robustness of the setup and how little the X5 draws on 520mm blades.

There's been a thread for this for a long time... https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=633567

100 amp HV ESC is way overkill for an X5. I run a 80 amp HV on my 570 and so do many others with no issue pushing it hard. But, as long as it fits, it won't hurt. Having to much ESC isn't a problem, having too little is.

The Castle Talons are like that. I got the impression there were some complaints/issues with their method, no?
Some bullets coming loose. And if you run the motor leads in directly, you don't have any flexible wire in the connection. If you do add an extension, then you now have 2 sets of bullets in the wiring, vs 1.

I guess it didn't sound like a clear-cut "win". But I don't have a Talon, this is just based on what I've read here and there.

I also plan on stretching to 550mm eventually, and that is another reason I want 100A. I also may want to get another 550 in the future after having the X5 a while? such as a Synergy E5, and that thing is heavy. I would use a 4035 for a E5 and would definitely need a 100A ESC for that. If I already had a 100A ESC on my X5 and I decided to get an E5, it would only require me to get a new motor and batteries. If I had a 80HV I would have I get a new ESC in addition to that.

I think that even with a 600mm blade, you will have no problems running the 80amp ESC. It is all you need to do even hard flying on 12S. That is if you keep it reasonable, with 13 degrees of pitch max and less than 2400rpm.

Reasonable? Me?

With a 4035 on 600mm blades 80A seems a bit low...

Do they have active freewheeling? Not a deal breaker either way for me, the low head speed stuff is cool.

I don't think so, but you can always throw a 6s or 7s pack in and get the same result

This HW ESC looks nice and is probably priced right too just like its 50A and 100A V3 siblings. However, in my opinion, it would have been better if there was no built in BEC as I prefer to use Rx packs. It would also be nice if it has logging... If it did and is priced right I will be replacing my YGEs on my 7HVUs with this ESC.

From experience, the YGE governor is not as straightforward to program as the HW. Also the lack of any protection for the electronics in YGE ESCs except a piece of heat-shrink is a throwback from 5 years ago IMHO. I lost a YGE 120HV because the tabs broke in a crash resulting in shorted circuitry.

I have been waiting for this esc ever since the rumors started for my 800s. I currently run Yge 160s and popped one on my Triabolo earlier this summer. So to me the 160 is the minimum I run now in most my 700s and def wont be running any less in my 8s. Hopefully like their little brothers they allow an outside gov, and I am not at all interested in their bec, as I run my separate flight packs. I am left wondering what they are going to price in at?

4035-500 and 690mm blades I have only hit 140-150 amp max draws. I have tried but could not get a higher spike. I am running it with a Commander V 130a, it will handle the spikes fine.

Anyone who runs this ESC should be kicked out of their club... I'm especially surprised @ AS

It's an ESC with a metal case. Not sure how that makes it a Kontronik clone.

Agree with that AS. Just because it looks similar doesn't mean it's a knock off... It has a totally different firmware, it's not trying to be a Kosmik.

It is no Kosmik clone but in my opinion Kosmik influenced... In design and features.

How can anyone look at that case and not see the uncanny resemblance to the kosmik 160. Lol The real test will be if the bolt pattern lines up with my goblin kde lipo tray system which is specifically for the kosmik 160/200. I'm only referring to the look.

I have to agree with Atomic Skull , I know you just referring but . I dose not look like a knock off to me. Hobby wing has been around a while and are good esc. I would not buy a kosmik 160/200 for the life of me. Way too much money. people can argue there the best but I am not so sure. I have seen them go up in flames just like every other esc, and for the cost of 800.00 burnt esc is just not for me.

I think YGE is the best I have seen
