Default Diabolo 700 on 14s?

Anybody running 14s on the 700 for flying 3D?

Here's my proposed setup:
Kosmik cool 160 or 200
Scorp 4530-450LE w/ 18t pinion
Pulse 5000's

Currently running 12s no complaints about power, wondering if 14s may be too heavy for a 700?

I'm running Pyro 800 40 paired with a Kosmik 160 cool and using Thor & Gens Ace 4400 14s and it flies great.

I think the added power makes up for weight gains.. I have thought about building my 700 as a 14s.. And share packs with my Speed, which is basically a 14s 700.

Default +1 on 14S

I'm running a Pyro 800 with Kosmik 160 and 4400mah Revo's.

Using 14S allows me to also share batts with Diabolo S. Using both 60C and 70C. 4400's at 14S should come in close to your 5000's at 12S weight wise.

I've got 7s 5000's on the way; will it be overly heavy?

With a Scorpion 4530 on 14s you should mount the metal gear in the second stage (hardened main wheel and hardened pinion). From its height and housing design the 4530 blows his heat (and thats a lot) exactly on the wheels. Or you should at least make a partition between motor and main gear. Also it is not bad to add a PEEK wheel in the first stage.

Yes too heavy! Flight times will not increase and flight characteristics will suffer.Electronics will run hot etc.5000 7s are for a 800 bladed Heli!

7S
I would not go over 4400, I prefer 3700, for sport 3D

I've heard a number of people say "extra power makes up for weight". Don't believe it. Besides, why would you spend more money on a power system that just makes up for itself?

My preferred 12S packs are 4400 due to feel in flight. 14S 3700 will provide the same weight and the same overall Watt-hours as the 4400 packs. A 4400 14S would be equivalent to a 12S 5200 setup.

I am happy enough on 14 S, but I agree, I'm not sure it's worth the extra cash and weight, for what I do, but it flies very very well on it.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. The power system and batteries I picked up off here with a G770 comp, think the 14s and 5000's will be better suited to it.

the only advantage, as stated, is if you already need 14s and can share packs.. That and lower amps which is better for electronics..

Ive been running mine on 4400 7s packs for a while now , the flight times are superb and Im getting approx. 6 mins running at 1900 head speed . Cranking it up to 2100 and flying hard im still getting 4 mins with 20% left in the packs .
Running a Comp pyro 800-48 with 20 tooth pinion and 200HV Kosmik with 4400 7s Thunderpower and Optipower packs .

I'm sort of wondering the same thing as I'm thinking of upgrading the motor ... not sure what the sweet spot would be as far as KV ? I like to cranck it up to 2200 for some speed runs or fly at 2000 .

the one thing is 7S are harder to find and more expensive so not sure it's really worth it ...? and she's already too heavy

I'm running this setup as well, well almost, 19 tooth and 160 Kosmik. The packs just get reduced in mah to match capacity and works out to the same weight but with more torque. I'm not doing 3D but a very responsive setup.

Im using Optipower 4400 7s which are really good value for money and shold be available almost everywhere.
I also have some Thunderpower packs which are considerably more expensive but where do you draw the line in this hobby. Its just expensive full stop lol !
