Default Front TT gear scraping against the hex bolt

I recently had a hard crash involving a misconfigured FBL controller and a stone wall which led to the need to swap out a bunch of parts including the front TT gear due to the pin holding the gears being bent.

When I replaced the gear set the top gear is scraping against the hex bolt. Is it ok to remove the bolt and rely on all other bolts to hold the gear set tight?

Better to get a new one rather than using one with a bent pin, by removing the hex bolt you will be making that section weak.
I think you will have a failure later on due to weakening that section.

I was a bit unclear but I have a new set of gears and those are the ones scraping against the hex bolt.

Check that you’ve properly reassembled the gears, if the new set are bent I would ask for a replacement.
It should not be scraping against anything.

There are not many ways to assemble them. The set comes preassembled (http://www.helidirect.com/helicopter...t-rex-250.html) and I also changed out the hex bolts (http://www.helidirect.com/helicopter...t-rex-250.html). It feels like it runs clean without the offending hex bolt so maybe the tail boom case is bent out of shape.

You need to check it all again as it should not scrape against anything, it should move smoothly without hindrance. I have the same heli.

When you put the vertical gears into the bearing and into the plastic sections it should fit snugly and move freely. Then when you mesh it with the umbrella gear it should still be smooth and free moving.

Even without the umbrella gear the none of my now three sets of vertical gear moves smoothly in the tail box. I'll order a new one and see if that helps.

Just to update the new tailbox solved the scraping problem
I assembled most of the copter and after mounting the anti rotation bracket I thought it looked a bit off. Looking at it further it seems like the whole frame is is bent by a few degrees

The crash must have been a lot harder than I thought...
