Well, i am a bit disappointed, i ordered the new "longer shaft" for the 500, and it turns out it is still the same length as the stock one in there now, which does not reach the pinion support bearing. ;(

the one i ordered is the Scorpion HKIII-4035 Shaft Kit 6 mm

Hi Guys,
What is the secret to getting the torque tube in to the tail boom? The O-rings fit in the tail boom so tight that there is no way I can push them through that long boom. Should I be using some kind of grease or silicon lube ?

Thanks in advance Mike,

Mike, I use silicone spray. In the boom and then on the orings. Take your time so you don't cut them and press the o rings in little by little in a circle with a thumb nail. Use plenty of silicone spray so it's slippery inside the boom. then slowly press the torque tube into the boom so you don't break the bearings free.

Let the excess silicone drip out over night, is what I do.

Thanks Guys,
I finally got it in after several tries. I question whether the bearing holders need to fit that tight in the tail boom? Thanks for the help I am headed out to see if the thing will fly or not. I am still fighting a slight tail oscillation that I have had ever since I put it together this spring.

The gaui bearing holders are naff, I use Outrage velocity/fusion ones much better design, way less vibs, and easy to fit bearing are the right size as well

I found if your not careful with the shite gaui ones the O ring roll of and if you don't realise you create massive vibs though the Heli, also you try getting the drive out once it's been in there a while LOL utter ball ache!

Thats odd I've had no issues sliding my bearing holsters into the boom on my machine (with a little oil but not a lot by any means)

I have been working on my new kit and had a question.

Should it use red loctite for the spindle bolts or is blue good enough?

Thanks!

As long as you clean the threads good and the inside of the spindle good, then blue should work just fine.

That being said, I use red because I don't want to risk it coming loose...ever! It's a PITA to get off but doable.

I use red on one end and blue on the other. As Matt says blue will be fine, but doing it red/blue makes taking it off to do maintenance easier. Undo as per usual and the blue end will release so everything can be removed.

Great thread I'm assuming I'll be referring back to this when my X7 arrives in the post next week. Just curious if someone could measure the diameter of the skid so I can order the random heli clips.

Well got the frame all built and have my cyclic servos and vbar. Just doing some of the wiring and have Found getting the zip ties in is a royal PITA!
So tip to any one building one would be to sit the ties through the wholes while building the frame sides up.

Default ball links and 9t pinion

I'm building my first big heli ..Gaui X7 Formula kit#070121 and have two questions I hope to get answered
1. Has anyone installed a 9t pinion and needed to modify motor mount slots and lower bearing support slots? I have what I believe is proper lashing but unable to slide the motor back any more.
2. Earlier in this thread I read the ball links go on with markings out. But the circle around the hole (as described) is on the same side of a number 3 marked on the links supplied with this kit. I looked very closely and it appears to be like a wiper and smaller opening. Not an circle around the hole. So I installed them with the number three and smaller hole outward. Am I wrong about this? I greatly appreciate

Just noticed I was responding to an old post...oh well...

I grab the zip tie at the very end with my needle nose pliers. Then I tightly wrap the tie around the pliers 2 or 3 times. The tie will stay circular long enough to go in one hole and back out the other with no need to fish around inside the frames. Leave the loops big so you can thread wire through them. Worked pretty good for me.

Also, there's not much room between the tail boom and the frame. Don't do what I did and find this out to late and have to reroute wires. I could only get two servo wires on each side. Even with two servo wires on each side go slow and be gentle pushing the boom in so you don't catch and damage the wires.
