Hello,
I want to use CGY750 governor in Vario Benzin trainer. I DO NOT want to use any idle ups or any other flight condition than what is required for basic flight - Hovering. I have setup the CGY GOV to work from 3-way switch. AUX7 on 12Z. The first position is set as GOV OFF, middle position as 1100RPM and the last switch position as 1200RPM. All set ups are made in CGY750 and none in my radio. The sensor reads magnet at 96% or 78% depending wether I read the signal from main gear (gear ratio 1:1) or from the flywheel of the motor (gear ratio 1:6.88). The problem is that the rotor rpm is very high atleast much higher than what I want. Why does not this simpliest way to program a governor not work? My CGY750 is very early edition and has not been updated. I do not have CIU5. Patrik |

You're better using the magnet on the motor rather than main gear as that will give a better stream of pulses for the gov to work with.
What is the complete list of governor basic and expert settings you're using? With the gov off, and then switching the gov on, does the RPM change. It sounds like you're saying it's rising. Have you tached the head to be sure what the RPM is with and without the gov enabled? I suggest you spool up without the gov, tach the head, and then check the max RPM recorded on the CGY750. Depending on where you've mounted the CGY750 you may even be able to see the live head-speed being reported. If the CGY750 reading and tach reading don't match then you need to fix that before worrying about using the gov. This can be done without the blades and at low headspeed initially for safety, assuming you have a tach which you can use without blades (e.g. a laser tacho). Steve

Yes! the rotor was just to verify if it is reading at all. Anyway the tach says 1490 which is what the CGY records. The gear ratio seems to be trivial. My CGY flies very well. I have had it on a turbine Vario, electric and now this 15 year old Benzin trainer which still flies very nice and I have high hopes for the CGY-Benzin.
I will take some photos of my setup and get the setting from my CGY. |

I would imagine that the sensor is from the CGY.
