120SR out of the box... goes hard right and back

I know from experience the proper way to fix this is not trim it to hell and back. The swash plate is level. I'm guessing I need to adjust me cyclic links to correct? When I do get it I have to throw the stick forward to stop the back flight and then keep it forward to even get it centered and constantly giving it left cyclic to compensate as well.

Are you using stock tx or Dx6i

DX6i with 60/100 DR's and recommended Inhibit/expo settings. 90Degree, %100 on travels, etc.

So when you measure the length on the links to the swashplate are the two sides the same? If so you don't need to do too many turns but if they are off a lot then you need to get those close to the same and try flying it again. There is an inherent lean at times on these birds when you are flying and I find myself trying to correct for that too, I don't know if that's what you are experiencing.

What you are experiencing is perfectly normal and part of what makes flying helicopters a challenge. You can try and program it out with some mixing, but I'm finding the bird flies better without the mixing. With enough practice you will learn to naturally compensate for it without even realizing you're doing it...

The lean is fine, I've seen it, but if I lift off into hover and then go neutral on the cyclic the 120 goes from a lean to a bank. Even when the heli is just light on the skids it wants to move right and put the tail into the ground.

Channel 5 in the 5in1 is a built-in dual rate feature in the heli. In my DX7 it is the channel dedicated as "Gyro". I have set this to be triggered by the flightmode-switch, something like: Flightmode Normal = 0% Gyro (Docile mode, i.e. 85% cyclic range)
Flightmode 1 = 100% Gyro (100% cyclic range).
I am also playing around with different mixing on FM1 & 2 like Elevator>Aileron to achieve straight forward flight. (120 tends to roll to the right on fast forward flight, at least mine is.)
The 5in1 on the 120 seems to switch mode at 60% on channle 5, I use 0% and 100% just to keep it simple.
Just to be clear; This is not the same as setting "dual rates" in the TX. This is a built-in dualrate inte the 5in1.

Check to see if the swashplate guide pin is in the goal posts on the frame.
