I bought my first PDR 480 oz BLS servo recently, for a 1/8 scale HPI savage monster truck steering. It has made this truck handle lots better then the 90 oz stock RTR servo it replaced. But it had issues being installed.
The stock truck screws are larger diameter threads then the aircraft hardware Audacity included..... so the brass eyelets wouldnt work and I ripped up the lil Audacity rubber dampers...So I did find some old JR rubber dampers/eyelets which wasnt ideal but worked... JB for all the folks out there who "thought" they would save some money by putting RC helis aside for a year to play with honeybees and RC trucks....Well we need larger servo eyelets cause those are even MORE expensive then RC helis are. |

Re: ProModeler Servos
John,
I've a couple sets of the HV BLS in my larger helicopters. Best servos I've ever had. Are the minis still planned? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2

I've not forgotten about making a mini but am still digesting getting into the standard size servo business. Meanwhile, I am researching this still so don't fear, it's still on my radar. The problem is we're a small organization. heck, we only just now have gotten around to making ProModeler shirts and caps (and we don't even have a team yet).

Better than Align for the money . . . but our goal is the best regardless of the money. is that OK too?

Just got my second set of Promodeler servos (this time for a nitro).
Got a nice thank you from John on the invoice, really nice touch I'll be using promodeler servos on everything I can, as long as they keep making them. After the crash I put a set through (totalled the rest of the heli, servos all survived perfectly fine) I'm sold.

Im a long time RC heli pilot but Im finding my RC monster trucks are a FUN diversion to the aircraft. These trucks wiegh in at 10lbs and the lipo BL ones even 12lbs +. 40mph to 60mph are normal speeds on rough terrain for these trucks so the steering servo really take a beating. My PDRS74420BLHV servo is going great on my HPI savage truck. i have beat the hell out of it! I am already planning my next savage flux lipo truck
JB, I know you mostly are aimed at the helis/ 3D plane market but folks are forced to buy these vehicles RTR and they come with cheap servos and alkaline batts for the RX.. The factories like HPI and TRaxxas cut costs by using the cheapest rebranded electrics they can. My factory servo crapped out in less then a gallon of driving. I think its HUGE potential market for Audacity Models JB. I posted about your servo on savage central forum but I think unless your a known player in that community it takes awhile to get the word out. These guys as I am learning take these vehicles almost like a obsession much like us heli guys do. They would hop up their own mothers if they could |

Well I received the Promodeler HV brushless metal cased cyclic servos yesterday and I have to say they look very nice....so nice that I think I'll probably use these exclusively on all of my helis from now on...
I haven't installed them yet but if they perform as good as they look then I'm impressed. Anyway thanks again John for designing and offering these at such a reasonable price! Oh and that mint inside of its own package was classy! |

Hi David,
Do you like them enough to want to lend me a hand? Spread the word, please. This, more than anything else would give us a fighting chance versus the big guys, which have very deep advertising pockets. Presently, we get good press in our little corner of the world (the Audacity model helicopter forum). Sadly, this means we're getting good press almost nowhere else. Why not? It's because the Pantera P6, love it as many do, is nothing but a cult favorite amongst cognoscenti. ProModeler servos are our first break out product. These have mass appeal because folks are fed up with being hosed on brushless servos. Thus, we stand a chance to make our mark . . . but we need your help. Bottom line? Early adopters, folks who influence markets, can help us by sharing their experience in places like the main forum. This, in turn, means more guys will become aware we even exist because right now, almost nobody knows anything about us. Much less how good our product is. Finally, and in closing, many, many thanks for your kind words.

I was flying last weekend and someone noticed at a glance my red servos, and asked if those were the ProModeler servos, and said he knew of a few people who have them and like them. He didn't know what a Pantera was though. That's a good thing, means he heard good things about the servos on their own merit.

My pleasure to help JB!
On your website there is no mention of RC cars when a customer clicks each servo...Example " If you have a 1/10 scale short course truck or buggy we have a sevo aimed at you here PDRS74140DLHV..."If you BASH a 1/8 monster truck then its the 420oz BLS. If you race 1/8 scale then the faster 245oz BLS should be your fit..etc.. Short course 1/10 truck racing is blowing up around here. It doesnt cost much for up keep and my SC10 truck is DURABLE. Clay tracks are easy on tires and I can flip/roll/crash over jumps with no to minimal repairs after many hours of track time. But the RTR servos are crap. Drivers will drop $1200 or more for all the goodies on a 1/10 RC10 type track buggy/truggy. It blew my mind, and to me it takes too much away from my helis if I tried to live at the track instead of my beloved heli field. JB the 1/5 scale gasser trucks are HOT ! Guys throw lots of $$ around in that size like the losi 5T and HPI baja trucks. Promodler might find it profitable if you had a serrvo large/tough enough for that market....Hell bashers are jumping these cars off small cliffs and your not trying if you dont go home with your RC in a baggy. |

One option that I think would be perfect for these servos are "clamping" type aluminum servo horns with a smooth center hub for infinite rotation when setting up the typical 90 degree mechanical servo center. |

Here's what we do have in the way of servo arms, both plastic and aluminum.

Promodeler servos are great. Got a set on my Kasama Srimok. Not a bunch of flight time yet but I really am impressed with them. I got the 245oz all metal ones for the cyclic.
The service is great too. John actually called me after I placed my order. And when I had a question about the tail gyro, he actually asked another customer who had some familiarity with it, to call me. Wouldn't hesitate to buy more stuff, servos and heli kits from him in the future. Think a big-block 4-blade Pantera would be fun. Jim |

Hey John,
Thanks for resolving that shipping issue with my BLS tail servo. I have it installed in my model and it works perfectly. I couldn't ask for a better product/support. I'll be a regular customer as long as you keep up the outstanding work! I'm spreading the "good news" on every thread I see that is asking for servo recommendations and doing the same in person at the heli events... these servos are just too good to pass up!

My ProModeler servos are providing yeoman service on a nitro Durango truggy and nitro X-Ray on road. I don't do much with RTR as building is a good deal of the fun for me but I did have a flirtation with an OFNA - the "gimme" servos were nasty pieces of work and got immediately replaced. You are definitely correct that RC ground pounders make for a very poor way to save money over RC helis. Putting sub-par servos in a Durango, X-Ray, Mugen or many others, well, it just isn't done. I need to start spreading the word over yonder as well. |

All I can says is . . . bless you!
By the way, anticipating discovery by the drivers, we made some of these while we were making pilot caps.

Besides my little issue I posted in another thread here, these fly great. I am the only one at the field with these but the other guys are taking notice of the promodelers because of the hard flying I put them through. I'm only using the 140oz ones with a 2s lipo.
