Question Whiplash Nitro with Vbar 5.3 Blueline

Hello Flyers,

Built a Whiplash lately and have maiden flight just this afternoon. Whippy, an awesome machine with great feeling. However, having "slow tail wag" during hover(both normal & idle up mode) which I'm unable to get rid of it; be it adjusted the tail gain up or down.

Appreciate if there is any flyer who may be able to advise if there is any specific setting needed on VBar.(which I do not believe it was caused by the heli mechanical setting as I'm very sure all mechanical set up are okay) If there is anyone having almost similar set up and willing to share the experience?

My set up for your easier reference as follow:

Engine: YS120 with Hatori TunePipe for 120.
Throttle & Cyclic Servo: MKS 950
Tail Servo: MKS980
Flybarless Stabilizer: Mikado VBar Blueline 5.3
TX: Futaba 8FG Super
RX: Futaba 6208 S-Bus
Regulator: Castle Link
Main Blade: CY Radix V2 710
Tail Blade: Funkey 105

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
William

Thanks jgalen. But I do not quite understand about the gov that you referred. In normal mode, the gov mode is not activated, it wag. In Idle up mode, the gov mode is activated and still same type of wag like normal mode. As for the engine, it's true it's slightly on the rich side. appreciate for further advise, if any.

the biggest cause of tail wag on ma birds is the boom supports coming loose. Make sure you take off both supports twist the ends to make sure they are secure and clean out the bolts and tighten up. Make sure you installed the thrust bearings correctly, make sure the links in the tail control rod are silky smooth. Even a little tight and it will cause a slow wag or fast if realllly tight.
Other than this when hovering in normal mode you should def not have a tail wag so go over the obvious again. I had a tail wag and after 3hrs of diff settings i realized my sensor was loose

Have you ensured the tail pitch slider is moving perfectly smooth on the tail shaft? It should slide with no effort on the tail shaft.

If it's not, check and see if the tail pitch links are tight on the tail blade grip ball.

These are typically very tight when new, and result in a small tail wag in the helicopter.

To resolve it, take your ball link pliers and squeeze them as shown in the picture. Go slow, and keep checking it until the tail is perfectly smooth.
