Default What motor

I'm thinking I want to give the Warp a spin and was wondering what motor some of you guys are running. I have a Xnova 2618-1860 laying around, and it's been beggin me to put it to work! Anybody try it, or is it a bad choice.

Totally overgeared, the Warp needs a 1300 ish KV motor. Xnova has a version for the Warp too.
I'm spinning the stock motor, its smooth, nice power and very efficient&reliable.
Scorpion&Xnova have a more generous power.

I want to but I wish they would release one with a 4mm shaft. Their current recommendation is to use the 3.5mm shaft version then bore out a 1/8" (3.175mm) Warp 360 pinion to 3.5mm.

I have no complaints about the stock motor. I have never felt any lack of power. With stock gearing, 3100RPM headspeed, and Ikon gov it pulls through punch outs and huge loops without a hint of bogging.

The right motor kv for the Warp is the 1360. On the smallest motor pulley avail which is 16T, you are looking at a HS of around 3700 rpm which is beyond what the Warp like.. This wont be an efficient setup unless you can custom make a pulley with less teeth.

With the Xnova 2618 I think you could get away with the C shaft for the jr forza combined with the lynx solid pinion for the mini protos which has the same pitch belt. Solid pinions come in sets 13,14,15 or 16,17,18.

Should work

The reason I got the 1580 kV is because scorpion makes one of the same kV specifically for the warp. Head speed will be fast for sure but I like fast:-)

So waxman do you have to drill out the linx pinions?

Higher kv obviously geared right will have a higher can speed. So carries more rotating mass which means it will take more effort to slow it down, so less likely to bog. I'd run it on a 14t pinion.

The Warp specific Scorpion is the 2520-1360, NOT the 1580. I am 1000000% sure as I was one of the guys who worked with Scorpion to make this motor a reality.

You can use the 1580, but you will need a [custom] smaller pinion or you risk blowing something apart.

very odd indeed. Maybe this is a misprint then? If you look in the description it says for the warp lol

That description is used for all the 2520 size motors. They are using the Warp as an example of the 6S 360mm machines the 2520 line was developed for (notice they phrase it "such as the Warp 360"). The 1360kv with 4mm shaft is the one that's a direct drop-in fit and proper kv for the Warp stock gearing.

Linx solid pinions are made to suit 3mm shaft, the C shaft xnova would be the best fit as the one designed for the mini p has a 4m section that extends a fair way down. No drilling etc, just bolt it on and go fly.

I've got the Scorp 1360v Warp motor that comes standard with the 4mm shaft. With an 18t pinion it has plenty of power.

I've also got the Xnova 2618 1360v A shaft that has had an 18 t 3.17mm drilled out to 3.5mm that is going in my newer Warp today.

I'd stick with standard kv motors with less hassle and would be very surprised if you needed more power. The Scorp with 18t goes very well indeed and I'm expecting the same from the Xnova with better efficiency and cooling.

Will report back after comparing.
