Default E5 Distoring my Main Gear

Hello guy's

I have a E5 with a KDE 600XF-1100 on 6S, I am using a 13T pinion hard coat. I have a CC 120 ESC using the latest firmware update, I have follow the KDE/CC setup, target heed speed is 2300. During summer season flying the ESC and motor would get really hot and destroy the main gear. I have been through four main gears over the summer, only getting a flight or two per gear. Also I used a Pluse 5000 battery Cyclone 555 blades. I need help/advice on this setup combo, I would like to use my gear I have but would look at making a change of gear if needed.

Thanks

Something is very wrong... two flights per main gear is not right.

Eighter your gear mesh is set incorrect or the pinion/main gear combo is incompatibel. I know there are two sorts of gears with different helical angles...

please check if you are using the correct parst and if so check your mesh setting procedure.

+1 synergy e5 gears have a different slant than other slant gears. They have to match or you will destroy gears. With the extra friction it could be the reason behind the high motor temps.

Thanks for the input so far. I have been using the 305-119T main gear at $40.00 ea . I have double check my gear mesh, used the paper method. If means anything I also put FBL Rotor motor mount. I will post some of my ESC setting in the next day or so. Again thanks for the support.

There are two different slant gears for syngery helis ... I see you have the correct main gear .. but make sure your pinoin is for the e5 e7se

And run ur pinion a bit on the tight side .. these a red machined there tolerance s are tighter ...

Like the others mentioned, it sounds like you may have the pinion for the older E7 main gear. Is this the pinion you're using?

http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php...oducts_id=1969

The pinions for the E5/E7SE are the same diameter the entire length. The pinions for the older E7 main gear have a larger diameter smooth shoulder at the end that goes nearest the motor.

6That's crazy I have only eaten one in hundreds of flights between my e7 and e5. The one I did break was due to the original e7 pinion wearing. Something is wrong and I suspect the pinion has a different slant than the gears you are using...as others have suggested

this is absolutely not normal. i agree with the guys above. you either have the older style pinion (which would be very hard to even begin to set gear mesh with....), or bad gear mesh. this heli needs very very very very little gear mesh. only enough to hear the tick when you move the gear, you shouldnt even really see the gear move....

Did you buy the heli used or new? The E5 comes with two pinions, a 12 and 14 tooth. Where'd that pinion you have now come from?

+1 that different helical angles will cause massive amount of friction and heat under load. A helical mesh should only have the tiniest amount of lash. Less than half a mm; as mentioned, just enough to barely feel the gear "tick" back and forth if jiggled while holding the motor in place.

This isn't actually the first time I've seen someone mention this happening to them which is why I even thought about it being a possible suspect.
