Default Be careful with the plastic tail bell crank lever!

Just installed the UNi ball that is included with the kit. It appears to have split the hole open on tail bell crank lever! I guess that's why the manual indicates to use CA glue to hold it together? I'm hoping this doesn't come apart in flight since both the sides of the hole are split now right at the mold seam. I'm going to wrap this with some Kevlar thread to reinforce it before a test flight. For some that can't understand what I'm talking about, I'll adds pics later since I can't do it from my phone right now.

OK, this is what I was talking about. Took pics with phone during the build. You can barely see the mold part lines (easier to see on your own part) and the weak points where it has split on both sides.

Here it is temporarily wrapped and bandaged with Kevlar thread and CA to hold it together till I can get a replacement bell crank.

That can't be good...Pre drilled hole is prolly a tad too small for that thread on the uniball.
I'll prolly ream the hole abit with a drill bit, or atleast use an exacto knive to widen the opening some before threading it in...

I had reamed the hole open a bit, but it didn't split right upon screwing down. It split when I set it aside. I grabbed the unit for the next phase of assembly and noticed it.

The CA is used to prevent the threads from backing out. I would not fly with that crack even though it is mended. I suggest you contact your dealer to get a replacement.

I like to run a tap down to start holes in parts like this. I keep a 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm tap on hand for this. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem or if it just a bad part.

We had 27 pre-production kits built and flown and I personally built 3, plus in Italy they built 3 or 4, plus Pascal's kits and Kyle's kits, I am guessing over 40 total kits, never saw this issue. Must be a defective part from the vendor, truly sorry.

We'll get you squared away!

Bert I think you meant "squared away"

Users should always IMO not force anything in and look for tolerances. Like Bert says though you may have just got a bad bit is all.

Think he meant squared away.... LOL

SAB has excellent customer service and follow ups to parts updates in past experience. Even through their dealers!
