Do you mean the play in the can? IE. in the 7HV the bottom half of the can, on top, can be moved up and down. If so that is normal. All Compass motors (and many others) do that.

+1. There has to be some allowance for heat expansion.

Yup I'm here at the field with him and the new motor internals didn't help with power at all. His hyperion hk4035-560 has twice the power at least.

I think once we get enough guys flying the new stator, we should be able to get some Eagletree data to confirm what it's delivering. I just programmed my K120HV ESC and ran the unloaded motor up and down to confim settings and such. I will be disappointed if this motor isn't the brute it was said to be. I spent too much on the ESC to afford a Scorpion motor ...LOL! To me, it didn't feel like the stator I removed. Didn't feel as much magentism, for some reason.

I installed my new stator on Wednesday and the Mavrikk blades, flew a quick flight and with that set up I had some bog on FF to a tight loop. I blamed it on the blades being wider than my CYB, today I will fly with the CYB's and retest, will post my opinion.

Yeah that is with the new stators. I may have just terrible luck and got another bad motor. I tested for continuity no problems there.

I will mess with timing and maybe try no Vbar gov again, but I tried all that with the last motor and it didn't make any difference.

Right now I am running the hobby wing on stock timing (5), 12khz, Vbar gov @ 1850 / 1950 on the stock 12t pinion.

BBRFST: how about performance with the CYB's...did you get out? I don't know what I will do if this motor isn't good or the blades bog it. I have used up all of my hobby funds and vacation time to build this model. Right now, I am feeling bad for Nankin who's supported us unconditionally, and there were way too many errors in the first run. I sold two helis and everything that went with them to build this heli.

Today, since I am still waiting for the Fromeco, I removed the tensioner to look it over. The carbon arms are misdrilled. I tried flipping mine over. It helped a bit.

Well after flying today I would say the motor is not living up to the promise. I put the CYB blades on today and it pretty much flew the same as with the Mavrikk blades (which I thought was the cause for the bog), bogging on tic toc's and inverted loops. I didn't have this concern with the original motor. I'm torn as to whether to use the old motor (still not sure if I would fail in flight) and wait and see what the remedy is or going out and getting a Kontronik's motor. That being said the Kontronik motors are 520KV Compass motor is 570KV what's the difference?

Oh and the CYB blades are the standard ones not FBL or stick bangers.

I am thinking a Scorpion HKIII 4035-560 will be required to alleviate the Compass motor inadequacy. I don't know why is the heck we wound up with crappy motors when they tested the heck out of motors before releasing. Where's the Brute? I want the Brute.

That's what I did to mine, and it turned the heli into a monster! Power difference from the Compass motor to the Scorpion was like going from a nitro .50 to a 12s 600e.

Sad, but true.

So the concensus is the 4035-560 then?

I'll wait it out a little longer to see what Compass say regarding the lack of power, but it looks like I'll be buying a new motor before even trying out the replacement one.

It's worth giving the stock motor a shot. It looks like there are possibly a few people happy with the stock motor.

The Hyperion 4035-560KV is a cheaper but great option as well.

just a Scorpion HK4035 re branded (and supposedly with different bearings).

It was a monster for the couple flights I had it in the 7HV.

I misunderstood...I thought the Hyperion motor was a typ-o, as I didn't realize they made a rebrand motor. Does it already feature the extended shaft like the HKIII, or is it an add-on? I couldn't tell from Readyheli's description. Is there another source?
