Yeah perhaps I do need to look into my tape, the stuff I'm using comes in squares with red backing on both sides, I didn't buy it recently, I had it lying around since it came with one of my FBL units over the years, it's dark grey inside. Pretty thin.

Will test out if the velcro strap has made a difference, if not I will look into changing out the tape.

On the hydro-locking point, how will I know if I've done damage to the engine trying to start it at the field the other day? I don't think I held the starter button down excessively, but what symptoms will I notice if I did damage the motor that way? It currently starts up and seems to run the same as always (to my limited knowledge lol).

If your using an align starter you didn't damage the motor.

Hi, I'm getting a nx4 delivered at the end of the month and will be using a mini vbar so have been reding up. Seem like you need a mini vbar anti-vibration plate (GAU924362) as the mini doenset appreciate nitor level vibrations. Apparently it makes it heavier which slows down the vibrations.

If your motor started and ran fine at home its probably fine. Most of the time you can tell if something was damaged as the engine won't start properly or it will sound different.

I use the metal plate on my nx4 with one layer of tape on either side of it. Not sure if its needed because I've never tried it any other way. On my Kasama Srimok with an OS 1.05 I use a layer of 3m tape with no metal plate and have zero vibe issues. But that is a vbar silverline versus a mini vbar. Can't hurt to use the metal plate.

Yeah I am running the metal plate under my mini vbar.

Bad news tho, crashed it yesterday. Thought I'd got rid of the vibes to the FBL with the strap but I guess not, got her in a hover and she went right pretty quick, wasn't able to correct it so hit throttle hold to go to idle but it was too late to get her level and save her.

Looks like:
- blades main and tails
- torque tube
- boom
- boom supports
- spindle
- main blade grip bearings (not sure, feels funny)
- tail gears
- possibly tail output shaft or hub
- tail servo
- back cyclic servo

The new kit actually includes the metal plate even if ordered without the vbar.

On a side note... The blue line sensor is very very sensitive to vibrations. I've been able to get enough out to where it flies OK,, but never as smooth as it should. I've had some pretty heavy vibes on multiple different heli's on a mini and NEVER seen it roll over like the beastx and 3gx's used to do. Typically it will manifest and heavy tail twitching and even a cyclic twitch, never a roll over.

I would highly advise not running a blueline on a nitro, squeezing a silverline on the NX4 may be challenging. I'd go with a Neo, or a Brain for this bird. You'll save yourself a big headache in the end if you just run a sensor that can tolerate normal nitro vibes.

GAUI NX4 Mini Vbar Problems (1 min 14 sec)

This is pretty much exactly what mine did (before I added the velcro strap).

Uhhh, Is this a how-to video that shows the best way to quickly remove the conrod from the crank and remove it through the side of the crank case?

On a serious note, I'm sure that heli has an issue with vibes, but it certainly isn't helping vibes having the motor unloaded and revved up like that on a solid surface that resonates vibes.

Haha yeah i'm not condoning running up a nitro without blades like that and I agree with you that his test conditions are probably making it a heck of a lot worse! I was just using it as an example of what mine did (with blades).

Actually might be interesting to see what my vbar logs look like. Will pull them off when I get a chance.

I couldn't get the Gaui Mini Vbar to work well with mine, with the metal plate. Would intermittently roll left. Has been working well with an Ikon on it.

Have been thinking about the recommendations for ikon/brain rather than the mini vbar i currently have on the heli. I do have a brain on my gaui x5, I could swap it onto the nx4, should probably run brain gov then.

Anyway, its definitely a plan to think on. Going to try get a complete list of parts and place some orders this weekend so I can start rebuilding soon.

That looks like an electrical issue. I would disconnect the onboard glow if igniter and use a ni glow driver.

I don't have a glow driver to test with right now, but I could possibly organize one. If it's an electrical issue wouldn't it show up all the time? This issue only shows up as RPM increases.

Vibrations at different rpm will cause different things to happen with electronics. The push glow is the cheapest piece of electronics on the heli. My guess it's the most likely to fail. Borrow a long glow driver if you have to. Tom

I had a mini vbar with the plate on my NX4 and it worked well but I may have just got lucky. I ended up swapping it out for a full size vbar because I didn't like the Gaui governor.

Finally got around to ordering replacement parts, expecting delivery any day now. Hopefully I got everything I need!

Am definitely going to be changing from the mini vbar over to the brain.

I got hold of a glow ignitor so I will test it with and without the onboard push glow and see if that changes anything (onboard push glow is super convenient though).

Will probably be a few weeks before I get everything back together though.

My mini vbar works with the nx4 nicely. It's up to you, but I would wait and see what the actual problem is before spending money on something that will do the same thing if it isn't the vbar......

Default found a problem...

still waiting on a few parts that werent in stock for the rebuild so i haven't made much progress.

was busy tearing it down completely yesterday and noticed the clutch is broken, looks like its been that way for a while, could definitely have been the cause of my vibration issues i guess.
