Default Aircraft vs Heli receivers

Is there a difference between receivers for planes and receivers for helis? Specifically, will a Spektrum AR636 receiver with AS3X work in a helicopter. I want to put one in an old (2006) Blade CP Pro.

Thanks for the help

Mike

AR636 3GX receiver is fixed wing airplane receiver with 3 axes gyro for airplane use.

After giving it some thought it would be cool to try and make it work on a flybar helicopter!

As the CP Pro helicopter has an electric motor driven tail rotor. You will need a receiver with tail gyro and tail rotor speed controller and main motor speed controller built in!

Best find a cheep Blade CP parts helicopter and rob the parts you need or keep it as decoration.

MCPX BL would offer way more bang for the buck.
Hope this helps.

This Blade uses a normal 6 ch receiver and a separate controller/gyro that contains the ESCs and the gyro. Does that mean that any 6 ch receiver without stabilization should work? I guess one of the things that I am asking is, does a normal receiver (without stabilization) just receive the signals from the transmitter and forward them to the servos or is there some mixing/programming going on in the receiver?

If you can plug the tail gyro into the rudder slot of a standard 6 channel RX

**** The tail motor ESC would still need it's own power supply as the rudder channel of the receiver would not provide a power source! ****

Is there a tail motor power source off the main ESC and a rudder lead to receiver?

Plug the main motor ESC into throttle port, I'd say have at it a standard 6 channel receiver should work work fine. The mixing goes on in the transmitter depending on the swash type.

I scrapped an old CX2 not long ago and got a Micro AR6100e Micro receiver that would fit this application! Just in case you have a scrap CX2 around. I'm saving it for a anther project.

An AR6210 without the plug in satellite would also lend itself to this setup.

The controller contains an ESC for the main motor and an ESC for the tail motor. You can turn the internal gyro gain down to 0 and use a separate HH gyro if you want. Everything works fine but I want to change from 72 mhz to 2.4 ghz. It uses a 120 degree swash so a regular 2.4 ghz receiver should work. Thanks for the help
