Default New Atom 500 Canopy

According to Mike at Nankin, I have the honor of being the first in the US to have the new Compass canopy for the 500. Of course I had to smash my original in order to NEED a new canopy, but here is the bird as recently restored... I need to change the ties on my ESC to black (the HW stock ESC didn't survive my attempt to bury the heli from altitude)

That's a tremendous improvement over the old one. They shrunk the black windshield area and added some color and contrast. I'll have to seriously consider one of these.

I got one of the new canopys, but it doesn't have "notches for the links like the old one and my links rub. Does anyone else have this problem.

There was a time when the old ones didn't have notches either. Just use a Dremel and grind them out. If you put a strip of blue painter's tape over the area you're grinding, the gel coat won't chip as easily.

Mine doesn't have notches either... Just made them myself. Not as nice as when the factory makes them though.

Maybe Compass use Fusuno to paint their canopies? in which case they could be using Fusuno stock which are a tad smaller and don't have the notches.
Another Compass headscratcher.

Looks very nice indeed! I mashed up my Atom yet again this weekend but wouldn't you know, that doggone original canpy just keeps on going! (almost 3 years old now). I've had a blank one for years as well. Just never got around to putting some ink on it. I might just have to get to it now because going around trying to show off how nice it is just doesn't have the same convincing ring to it when it looks like Humpty-Dumpty!

Hehe...yeah, I could probably use some Atom smashing training. I just can't seem to annihilate the sucker regardless of what I do to it!

I've been away for a while, but Its very good to see that compass isn't abandoning the 500 with all their new projects. The canopy needed an updating something fierce. I like it!

I would be happy to send you all my FB stuff if you are still using one. I think I'm convinced that I want to do the conversion and I really don't feel like messing with the FB stuff anymore (on small helis anyway). I would sell it all for the cost of the conversion kit, so quite a bit of stuff if you (or anyone else) is interested.
