Post your sim and skill videos here!
Got a video to show off a cool move or want a critique on something you're working on? Maybe you have a video that's a good example of a maneuvar? Post em up!

OK, I'll go first. This is a flight from a couple weeks ago at a fun fly. Critiques and comments are welcome.

Very nice. You're getting some really good collective management there. Your tic tocs sometimes are a little lopsided. Try to keep them more even. Work on your inverted comfort level. Get that thing on the ground and be able to piro around at will You're definately ready to add some piro to your repertoire. I'd like to see some basic piro flip style transitions in your flying. Great job. You've come a long way. Keep pushing it |

Ya, that was the closet call I ever had with one of my nitros, LOL. I had to check my pants after that flight.
Thanks for the criticism, I have come to most of the same conclusions as you, I need to do more piros and piro maneuvers. I will start working on those on the sim. The piro flip style transitions you mention , can you give me a brief description on what you mean and how to do them. I am the top pilot at my local field and I need people to learn from. I tend to feed off of people and right now I am the one who helps everyone out, but I'm left on my own to browse and learn on the forums. This recent trip to the heli phenomenon got me looking for some heli guys to fly with and learn from. I want to thank you for opening this section and writing such great descriptions on how to perform the maneuvers. I will work on your suggestions for homework and once done, I'll come back for some new assignments Any tips on how to not accidentally apply any collective when applying rudder? |

loosen the rudder axis and or tighten the collective axis. Otherwise make a mental effort to concentrate on not mixing the 2 accidentally. Using the sim you can watch the axis positions. Spend a few minutes working the rudder at various collective positions and try not to apply any accidental collective. |

Here's a Phoenix recording I did tonight. Working on inverted backwards hurricanes/funnels, piro flips and trying to stop going back to a tail in hover after every move

wow that was crazy
Take a look at my piro flip vid again and try to follow the steps. Looks like you have the first half of the half flip working pretty well, but you need to work on the second half. Start with the heli tail in inverted and practice just the second half. go back to tail in inverted and do it again. Keep working on it until you have it a bit more solid. Then start working on putting the first and second parts together. Also you should maybe slow down your tail a bit. The tail whipping around that fast will make things a lot harder to "lock in" when you are trying to learn piro maneuvars |

thanks..
After playing back and looking at my stick movement.. I notice the other half problem.. I should work on that.. and yes.. I think the tail is going too fast for my reaction.. cheers quest

Hi,
As I'm still working on the second half of the piroflip.. I realise something.. look at is this way.. start off your piroflip in inverted nose-in..practice this half of the piroflip to reach upright tail in.. then connect this half of the piroflip to go back to inverted nose in.. I think this will help a lot in connecting everything up.. At lease this help me me getting the whole piroflip connected better.. hope this make sense.. cheers quest

For example if you are upright tail in: Half flip (180 rudder rotation for each half of a flip) a half flip from there will end inverted tail in a half flip again will go back to upright tail in Now if you do a full flip (360 rudder rotation for each half flip) full flip will end inverted nose in full flip back will go back to upright tail in Anything that is a multiple of 360 will end nose in on the first half forward flip Now to answer your question... Since I'm guessing you are just needing to practice half flips right now you cannot start nose in inverted and expect to end upright tail in. You will need to do a 360 piro rotation to do this. Stick to 180 rotations to start until you get the hang of it... Watch the piro flip video again and just attempt the very basic separated movements I show at the very beginning I.E. from inverted tail in: pull back on the stick until the nose is down give left rudder until the tail is pointing down push forward to level out repeat that about 50 times |

And yes.. I'm now moving back to the half flip to master it first.. before attempting the full flip again.. cheers quest
