Default BMS-621MG and HD-9110MG servos

Has anyone ever tried out BMS-621MG and/or HD-9110MG servos on a 550 or any other similarly sized heli before? If not, I'd still appreciate any advice on whether or not they'd work with the 550.

I'm thinking about getting a BMS-621MG for the tail and three HD-9110MG for the rest of the linkages. I don't need anything high performance as I don't do 3D or competitive flying, so all I need at this point is something that works and is of reasonably good quality.

1 x BMS-621MG: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...13sec_47g.html

3 x HD-9110MG: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...5kg_19sec.html

I've compared their specs with the ones that Gaui recommended to me, and I think that they should do the job. Hopefully I haven't missed anything.

Assuming the above and that you do not have FBL (FES) heli than go for something that is well tested and simple: Spektrum/JR DS821 for the swash and Hyperion Atlas DS20-GMD for the tail. Budget but good solution.

Pls search the forum as someone was mentioning recently a great deal on Hyperion for something like 20$ only for a great tail servo.

I have about 130 flight on my Hurricane 550 with the BMS-621MG and they work good.

Yes, this a VERY good gyro, easy to set-up

I changed my BMS-631 by an Align DS650 only because this gyro NEED a digital servo.
I used my BMS-631 with a Telebee gyro for a year before to change for the Quark.

You can use the http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ogram_Box.html with analog servo.
This gyro is quite good also and not too expensive.

I understand that the ESky EK2-0704B isn't that good of a gyro, but would it work with a BMS-631MG on the tail?

Default Esky

Yes, the 704B gyro will work with that servo...the were used on HBK2 and Belt CP in conjunction with the ESKY Digital Servos EK2-0508...Be aware... they will drift...
My testing of the cheap gyros included the Esky ones, the 192, GAZ 126 (not at all bad)
GY48V (better) and the GA250 mems...it holds the best out of all of them.
In the end...just find a used GY401, Quark, GP 750-80 and a GOOD TAIL SERVO !

Back to the servos again, do I need servo plates for them or can they be attached to the frame without the plates?

...that -621 is a full size servo...no need for reducing plates...close to DS-821 size...slightly larger...

And for the final piece of the puzzle: Turnigy 3300mAh 4S 30C Lipo Pack

How well would that work for the 550 with the ESC and motor I've got?

ESC: Hyperion TITAN 80A HI-PRO Brushless ESC with 4A 6V Cool SBEC
Motor: Hyperion S3520 14 Turn 1190KV

...that one might be a little heavy...you can compensate with tail weight...
The largest I use, a 3000mah /30c on either the 550 long boom or 500 mid-boom.
2650 40c are ideal batts for these...all 6s though...

I found this 2650mAh 6S 40C pack, but at 468g it weighs more than the 3300mAh pack I linked to earlier: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10296

Same for this 3000mAh 6S 30C pack, at 507g: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9489

The battery that was recommended to me by Aircraft-World is the Hyperion LCX 5350 4S, which weighs 473g compared to the 375g for the Turnigy 3300mAh 4S 30C. How much does yours weigh?

3300 30c black label 183g (2+yrs old)

I use them with the short boom and the CG is perfect.

So if I go for the 3000mAh 6S 30C, do I need just one pack or two? Also, will I need to get a BEC or is the ESC enough?

It is a personnal choice. For me, I use a separate receiver battery on all my heli above 500 with a regulator. If you use BMS servo, you can use the internal Bec of your ESC.
