There was talk a while back of pinions that wouldn't free-wheel at all well - something to do with the bearings at top and bottom not being square. I'm afraid I can't remember if it was Mini or normal Protos

Yes, there must be a few bad ones around cos I've had 2 or 3 like that new out of the packet. One of them I tried in a new bird for maybe around 15 flights but it didn't get any better, so I took it out and put a good one in.

yea its a PITA, althought i just tried my pinion without the top bearing in it, and it seems to run completly fine. do you think it would be safe to run the pinion on the motor shaft with just 1 bearing in the bottom? doesnt seem to wobble or anything.
im no smack 3d guy just circuits and some light 3d.

you think its safe?

I'm no expert but I'd say it would be safer to use both bearings in it and just accept no freewheeling. It seems to be less of an issue with the 6s motor, ie - the 6s is easier to spin by hand.
