Default Bearings..

For me, bearings in general are way way too fragile. I put ABEC 5's from BOCA in the tail and they were noticeably smoother but they probably just pack them with thinner grease to produce that effect. I got the ones with metal sheilds because they have less friction than the rubber sealed ones. The metal is very thin and the tail loads them sideways and they will bend and wear abnormaly. I could not find any combination of thrust bearings that would work. So, if you don't like the stock bearings, the only thing that in theory would be a lot better would be full ceramic and that comes to 400.00! Going to Ceramic balls would be probably worse in terms of fragility. The balls are harder than steel but its not the balls that are wearing out, it is the raceway.

Grab a tube or two of the bulk ones from here http://www.rcbearings.com/. Quality is good and the prices are reasonable. BOCA are stupidly overpriced for what they are.

No point putting really fancy bearings in the tail, the first time you tap it on the ground you will damage them anyway.

Default What about these?

http://www.rcbearings.com/t04-09g-4x9x4/

These are 4x9x4 thrust bearings. Same size as stock radials. So you could run one of these with one of the stockers and have a thrusted tail.

What on earth are you talking about ? LOL! The miniprotos radial tail grip bearings are
3x6x2.5 and 2 in each grip.
How you gonna get a 9mm diameter thrust bearing in there?
The mini does not need a thrusted tail. Just some better quality bearings than what came stock with my latest kit. Got some of the 3x6x2.5 bearings from rcbearings.com and they are a definite improvement from the stock ones

Heli guys over here swear by Japanese EZO bearings. Always wondered as Germany has plenty of manufacturers. So far I tried the stock ones and SKF and was not impressed by the play in both of these from the beginning. Might try the Japanese ones when mine make me problems.
