Yes, it will no longer be metal.

So your saying that you didn't see a dramatic difference in performance between the parts of the video where the heli was flown at 2000 and when it was flown at 2200? I sure did.

don-dadd, wasnt it 1600 and 2200 in the video?

Completely agree, there are even people who fly 2400+rpm on a 700size. that is even more

Default Regarding insane headspeeds...:

In his write up about the design philosophy behind the TDR, here is what Jan Heneleit says:

"In connection with the development of the Rigid numerous test flights with a logger data capture were carried through, which persuaded me to refrain from the exaggerated present max rotor speed hype. Thanks to light models with flybarless main rotors it is not necessary any more to race with a rotor head speed exceeding the limit of 2000. The properties when flying straight on are even fantastic at 1300 rpm at the main rotor. Every flybar head helicopter would pitch up hopelessly at these manoeuvres. Most of the 3D figures can be flown because of a lower rotor disc load also using a more moderate head speed. So more than 1800 rpm at the main rotor are unnecessary when flying this helicopter. The logger data show that the efficiency of the blades decreases rapidly with increasing head speed, so that most of the energy is wasted. For the same flight condition "Hovering at one position" 570W is required at 1300 rpm at the rotor and at 1850 rpm you already need 1000W. At more than 2100 rpm 1500W are required, i. e. nearly the triple amount, although you do nothing more than hovering.
This result shows clearly that the flight time can be increased considerably, if the rotor does not constantly rotate at full speed. All these results have contributed to and influenced the choice of the speed reduction and the recommended drive of the Rigid."

Of course, the text is about the TDR, not the Goblin, but think about what he says for a minute...

The main thing is which set-up you use. There're differences in Governor philosophy. In my opinion, having a good Governor with enough head-room to withstand even hard collective and cyclic pitch at 1900 to 2000 feels way more aggressive than a "soft" governor at 2200+. I would only use these extreme high-speeds for speed flying.
But that's personal taste...

I think it depends on your flying style. If you need short burst pop then the energy is best stored in the blades as it's there more instantly. If you need more sustained power deliver then the energy is best stored in the battery. For me the advantage of running a lower headspeed and governing more aggressively is I get a constant headspeed throughout the flight. Those who run 100% throttle find that the headspeed decays right from the start of the flight.

Anyone read on the Sab website under general discussion, the post that says shipping date? Well someone quoted Sab and it said something on the lines of the first batch won't be until February 10.

That would be 4 months to the day since I placed my order, fully paid, on Helidirect. I thought December was a on time to wait, and then January and now February.

I didn't have to fully pre-pay, it was my choice - money would burn a hole in my pocket so I dropped it ASAP. I called Helidirect and they were surprised I wanted to fully pre-pay as no one else had at the time.

At least for the guys that got there names on the canopies. Otherwise when people back out, they would be stuck with those.

The Aussie distributor has confirmed a worldwide release date for the Goblin as February 7. He believes he will have stock on this date - I would assume Helidirect will be the same. So, less than a month to wait, hopefully.

A German shop already notified their customers that they should get their kits in next week. My LHS which is part of the German and Austrian distributor still says end of this month...
