Default 105 on the tail?

Hey guys,

Anyone out there running 105 tail blades?

I've noticed that my fusion has a slight tail kick when performing hard pitch changes. It's defo not the servo being a bit slow as I'm running a kds 0.04.

Anyone tried 105s?

I have flown a friends Velocity 50 with 105mm tails, which flew very nicely, but you do have to very careful on landing as the tail fin is only 105mm long so buy a few spare tail gear sets aswell! Or get a longer fin.

I haven't really had a problem on my Fusion, but I may try some slightly longer tail blades, or wider chord ones to try it out.

It's possible to run that way, the downside is that it puts a lot more stress on your tail servo and assembly. Not that it can't handle it, but it wasn't made to run that much extra mass. I doubt gears would strip, but it's another concern if you're doing hard 3D. By the looks of the flights I've seen from Tareq on this machine, I doubt the tail will have any problems on 95mm's if you have it set up the right way!

Just thought about it, you could look at the newer KBDD 104mm tail blades (TWEE Extreme Editions). They have a raked design and really thin profile which likely won't add a lot of weight. i plan on trying a set on my 600 when I get it airborne again. i tried it with the older 102's and it worked well, just on the heavy side.

it's not your tail blades, it's your tail setup.

try moving ball on tail servo out 1mm-2mm. That should solve the lag on holding in pitch pump maneuvers. Either that or more tail gain in the software. By moving ball out on servo you have more mechanical gain, vs adjusting in your radio. Each has it's benefits, and negatives. IMO you need more mechanical gain.
