Looks good Fishjunky especially since it was obviously windy as I could hear the gusts in the MIC. Also the Swift is a pretty light heli I know. Now work on holding it more in one spot and height at as well (collective management). Again I realize the wind was pushing you around but you can beat it into submission

Rich, what smoke? A Swift NX is electric
Unless your talking about some other video?

Thanks for the encouragement Bob, I didn't think it was that windy, but you can definitely hear it. That NX is also stretched to run 600mm blades so the disc loading is even lighter than normal. I will continue to practice my hovering and will keep trying these challenges as they come up.

A year and a half in and my right side hover is still appalling.
I'll need some more practice.

I only have a sim (no real heli, yet). But I am finding that trying this challenge is very helpful to my hovering skills in the sim, and I can only assume this will translate into better skills once I get a real heli. That's what I'm counting on, at any rate!

So, are there any more "challenges" from Finless, other than the two stickied at the top of this forum? (Not that I'm even close to ready for attempting the second one - but I enjoy watching people do them!)

^^^ I completely agree, I've been hammering the sim and actually using it as a training tool at last.
Gone from dodgy upright to confident inverted in a few weeks. Hopefully I'll get a chance this afternoon to try it for real!
Thanks guys.

NICE JOB! And 3 thumbs up on the bonus points!

You are better inverted than I am right now! I have a problem on my right side still to this day.

Thanks Bob!

Spend a day simming on that inverted right and I know you'll have it.

Great flying. But my main reason to write here was to comment on the background scenery.
Sure is beautiful in your part of the world, that was postcard stuff going on there.

Thanks for sharing

Nice job! Your heli sounds like it is running really smooth too.
I love your heli pad "hole in the ground" Good control shgowing you can land in that small spot.

Thanks.

I build it from your videos and is came out great. It is only a 250 so it is not the easiest to hold still.

I actually drew a helipad on my lawn, for the movie, but that flight did not turn out so good. Mostly because of the recording.

After 2 years(off & on) hovering I did my first Piro 2 days ago, and first nose-in today. I did my Flight Challenge # 1 Video today. More to a lack of nerve than "skill". Not that I think I am so "skilled" as I am nervous LOL. I'm on vacation waiting for the Hurricane so I'll upload my video ASAP.

here they are, I did it 3 times.

Totally self-taught. I've used Aerofly Professional Deluxe & Phoenix 3.0 flight simulators in conjunction with Bobby Watts' Smacktalk videos, RC Heli Magazine, and on-line forums like Helifreak.

Unfortunately helis are frowned upon at my RC site, so I only fly planes there. I do most of my practicing in my backyard so don't be too hard on me. I know I have a long way to go.

Good job. Harder than it sounds or looks isn't it?
People think 15 seconds is short and easy to hold a position/orientation. However as you see when doing it 15 seconds seems like forever!

I see a lot of videos where someone say "hey I did my first nose in" but they did it for like 2 seconds and basically was hands off with no stick input for corrections. Sorry but I do not consider that successful nose in hover until you can sustain it indefinitely.

Looks like you got the basics of the orientations and just need to smooth it out a bit. e.g. try not to move all around. Thats even harder

100% self taught. I like to hear that honestly. What no Finless build videos on your list of training?

I am working on smoothing it out. I wasn't at home and those trees got close fast. I trimmed the one in the center 1 time(not on purpose). I also had golfers stopping and watching in their carts, which made me nervous.

LOL, If it weren't for your 101 videos, gyro videos, T-curve, Pitch curve, etc my heli would still be on the ground.

Thumbs up Challenge..

Excellent idea. Not sure if it's been note already coz it's hard to back read but this will not only show how good pilot we are, It will also prove how we are technically and mechanically skilled.

I'm new to HF (my 1st post), 6th months in this hobby and I must say (give credit) I've learned a lot out of FB (Finless Bob) videos.

Funny that right after I've read the challenge.. I immediately try it out on my sim. Been practicing a lot on the sim and I did it step by step so I knew I can. Not so pretty but I did manage. Currently my buddy is on vacation so there won't be a video for a while.
